Obituary

Born July 31, 1931 in Waverly, Washington to Floyd & Ethel DeLong Halstead. As a child Mary lived on a farm in St. John, Washington. Mom was one of 13 kids in her family. She had 4 brothers that died in infancy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Halstead Sr., Ethel DeLong Halstead, Ava Halstead, her husband, Calvin Bowell Jr., her brothers, David Halstead, Floyd Halstead, and her sisters Bertha Sundberg and Shirley Halstead. Mom died peacefully at home on May 31, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was 83 years young.

Beloved Mother of Raymond & Rita Boell, Teresa Stout, Keith & Cassandra Bowell, Donald Bowell, Edward Bowell and Kerry Bowell.

Devoted Grandmother of Wolfgang Dorsch, Michael Dorsch, Angelika Dorsch, Christopher Stout, Erik Stout, Danny Stout, Sarah Bowell, Chad Bowell, Edward Bowell Jr., Christopher Satterlee, Jacob Satterlee, Makayla Bowell and Matthew Bowell.

Wonderful Great-Grandmother of Joseph Dorsch, Christian Dorsch and Arabella Stout-Rios.

Survived by Ethel Brown, Dorothy Halstead, Carolyn Edgar, Mina Halstead, Donald Halstead, Herschel Halstead and many nieces and nephews.

Mom started her banking career at Seafirst bank in Richland, Washington. In 1959 Mom & Dad moved to Seattle where mom continued to work for Seafirst. In 1962, mom put her career on hold to raise her family.  Mom finished her working days at the Federal Reserve Bank.

As a young adult mom played Semi-Pro Baseball, which led to a lifelong love of the game. Mom enjoyed cheering on her favorite Seattle Sports Teams- the Seahawks, Storm’s and Mariner’s.

Mom loved to work in her garden tending her strawberries & flowers. Mom had a great love for family, friends and her beloved cats & dogs. One of mom’s favorite things to do was bake cookies & cupcakes with Arabella.

If you would like to honor her memory, Plant a garden, eat some fresh strawberries, hug your cat or dog, read a book and love your family always. These things were all very important to mom.

Mother Mary will always be remembered for so many things, including her beautiful smile. As time goes on the hurt in your hearts will heal with wonderful everlasting memories. My prayers are with you all.
