Obituary
Nancy Maltby passed away at Swedish Medical Center on the morning of May 19 at the age of 89.
Nancy was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Mancer and Mary Conway Cyr on March 6, 1927. In 1938, after her parents’ divorce, Nancy moved to Seattle with her mother and her sisters, Margaret and Cynthia, where she graduated from Broadway High School in 1944. She began working for the City of Seattle the same year, retiring in 1978. Nancy was married to Billy Boyd Maltby for fifty years from July 5, 1958 until Bill’s death in 2008. Nancy and Bill raised their three children, Chris, Brad and Mary in the Roosevelt and View Ridge neighborhoods.
Those who knew Nancy remember her for her warm smile, her quick laugh, her stubbornness and her generosity. She was dedicated to her family and loved her time with her children and her two grandsons.
Nancy is survived by her children: Chris Maltby of San Francisco; Brad Maltby and his wife Patsy of Everett; and Mary Maltby of Seattle; her grandchildren: Brandon Maltby and his wife Amanda and Colin Maltby; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews.
She will be missed by those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Nancy’s name to the Union Gospel Mission, The Bread of Life Mission, or the charity of your choice.
Visitation and Funeral Mass to be held on Friday, May 27th, 2016 at St. Catherine of Siena Church: 814 NE 85th Street – Seattle
Visitation at 9 am with Funeral Mass to begin at 10 am with a reception to follow immediately after Mass in the Church’s fellowship hall.
