Obituary
Norma Lorraine Smith,nee Morrison
Born 7/21/1928 in Scranton, Wisconsin
Died 10/24/2006 in University Place, Washington at The Franciscan Hospice House
She married our father Donald E. Smith on May 20, 1960
She had three children;
Ardith and her husband Sonny
Eugene and his wife Lynn
Roberta and her husband Clyde
She had sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her hobbies were going to garage sales and shopping at second hand stores. She loved having garage sales. Her favorite things about it were meeting the people. She especially loved the children and that they would pick out a truck or a teddy bear and she would have them pay her with lots of hugs and kisses. And as she spoke with the different people, she would learn of others misfortunes and would donate much of what they needed to get their lives back on track.
She enjoyed sewing and making quilts. When she first started, she made sure all of her children and all of her grandchildren had a quilt first. She had collected so much material that she decided to make quilts for the homeless and lap robes for the retirement center.
Her next love was to write poems and sing songs that she wrote. She made each of her children a tape of her reading and singing. We learned how talented she really was.
She was loved and cared about by hundreds and maybe even thousands of people. The following is one of the many poems she wrote.
”I dreamed of a beautiful home,
that someday on earth I would own.
But obstacles are put in front of me
and my dream house can never be.
Now I am tired and old
and I am headed for a mansion of gold.
I have cried for so many long years,
just bucket and buckets of tears
And now that I am up here,
I realized that my home was not there.
A mansion of gold,
for both young and old
and now I can shout with glee
because the Lord has my home for me.

Grandma was a special person in so many, many ways. There was so many times our family would not have survived with out grandma and grandpa. The emptiness in out hearts can only be filled with all the memories of her love and care for us. God now has her under his wing and she will continue to shine on…
What a special Grandma you are. We love & miss you very much. Our comfort will be with each other, happy memories of you & knowing you are with your parents & family. Take Care Grandma.
