Paul E. Shores

February 10, 1917 - December 14, 2014

Obituary

Sadly, we announce the passing of our father, Paul Evert Shores, on Dec. 14, 2014.  Dad has joined his heavenly family and we rejoice and thank God that he is at peace.

Paul Evert Shores, born Feb. 10, 1917, was the 7th of 8 children born to Otis Lausen Shores and Maude Loyd Shores in Wagner, South Dakota.  Dad was valedictorian and poet of his graduation class.  He would call himself studious, but we consider mining for gold in Idaho to be pretty adventurous! Vocational school trained Dad for his career with the Boeing Company.  He enjoyed the work and the people.  Dad retired after 43 years with the “Big B.”   Paul and Alice Lee met at work. They married May 5, 1944 and just celebrated 70 years.  We are their daughters – Evelyn and Karen.

Known for being thrifty, Dad was rich in family and friends.  Thinking about time spent at the pink A-frame brings a smile.  Dad was always ready to play cards or drive the boat for skiing.  Dad’s extended family included lifelong friends, his friends from Boeing, neighbors from 6 different homes, everyone who ever played cards with him and his fellow worshipers from St. James, Grace Lutheran and Emeritus.

Paul Shores is survived by his wife Alice, daughters Evelyn (Earl), Karen (Ken), many nephews and nieces and their families.  Dad stayed in contact with all of his family.  His beloved grandchildren are Stephanie, Paul, Stephen, Meredith, William, Colleen; great grandchildren are Kiana, Laney, Anaya, Toby, Callista, Amanda, Alyssa, Kyle, Dawson and Harrison (arriving in Feb.)  Jaxon is their great-great grandson.  You all know how much Dad cherished you.

We are comforted in knowing that Dad is in the arms of loved ones who’ve gone before him.

Evelyn & Karen,

I was sad to hear from my Uncle Ivan Richmond that your Dad passed away but I never got anymore information about it. I happened to find this obituary online. I would love to have copies of any family tree/ history information that you may have. My mom Arlyce Richmond Sloan is a niece of your Dad. She just turned 82 last week & is doing ok but sometimes she get family history info mixed up so if you have any written info that would be great to have a copy. My grandmother Pearl Fern Shores died when my mom was only 6 years old & I think she might have been one of the older ot the 8 children but I am not sure. I hope to hear from you.
