Ruth Evelyn Dussault

Ruth Dussault beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 85 on Thursday, August 15, 2013, just 25 days after her dear husband, Don. She was born in 1927 at home in Kentucky and met her husband of 65 years after graduating from Wenatchee High School. Ruth met her husband Don at an Eagles dance in Cashmere, WA. According to the two of them, it was love at first sight! Ruth and Don remained in Wenatchee another three years as they started their family. The family then moved to Seattle where they raised her two daughters living in the Highline community for over 60 years. Ruth worked for the Highline School District at Hazel Valley Elementary as a lunchroom cashier and office assistant, retiring in 1991. Her affiliations surrounded around ‘family first’ spending countless hours at her daughters and grandchildren’s sports, dance, drama, music, activities and school events. She was a member of the Hazel Valley PTA and her daughters’ school PTA’s, having served as PTA President for Sunnydale Elem in the 60’s. Ruth’s hard work and selfless dedication earned her a prestigious Golden Acorn award in 1990. Ruth and Don’s faithful marriage of 65 years allowed these two many adventures and cherished time with family and friends. During retirement, they traveled the world, spent time with their adoring family and were active in their church. Ruth was a fabulous baker and cook. Her Sunday fried chicken dinners always had the family drooling for more. The most coveted creation she made were her famous ‘Heavenly Brownies’ which found their way to both daughters college rooms and all four grandchildren’s colleges, too. Her infamous 3 lb coffee can of delectable chocolate goodness was savored and shared with college kids from Washington, to Oregon, to California to Colorado. Family meant everything to Ruth and it is a legacy of her love that remain in the hearts of those left behind forever. Ruth is survived by her two daughters Vicki (Steve) Dussault Hagen and Donna (John) Dussault-Walker. Ruth is also survived by four grandchildren Bryan (Kelly) Hagen, Darren (Camila) Hagen, Jason Hagen, and Lindsay Dussault-Walker including two great-grandchildren; Avery and Ashton Hagen. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Highline Christian Church, 14859 1st Avenue South. Burien, WA 98168. Memorials may be made to Highline Medical Center Foundation/Hospice Comfort Care.

I may not be able to pay my respects on Saturday because of work so I wanted all of you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I grew fond of Ruth in the short time that I was able to care for her. She was a real sweetheart and I always looked forward to seeing both her and Don. Not only are they together now but they are at peace and that is a beautiful and comforting thought. God be with you!

Dear Donna,

Please accept my condolences on the passing of both your Mom and Dad. I remember how kind and loving they both were when we were in our “dancing days”. Our parents were our biggest fans treating all of us “kids” like we were their own. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Love,

Kathy
