On June 8, 1959 our world was graced with the birth of Valerie Ann Vasser. She was the oldest child born in Seattle, Washington from the union of Dorothy Faye Allen and Charles Edward Vasser. Two years later, Valerie was blessed with a younger sister, Venita Lynn Vasser.

In 1965, Valerie’s mother decided to pursue a new life and academic opportunities. Dorothy moved the girls to Los Angeles. Valerie and Venita lived on campus housing while their mother attended and graduated from UCLA. Valerie attended Clover Elementary, then Webster Junior High School, followed by Fairfax High. This is where Valerie’s creative writing abilities began to blossom. During this time, Valerie’s younger siblings were born: Shelley Vasser, Charles Vasser Jr., and William Vasser .
In 1974 to continue her higher education endeavors and wanting a better life for the girls, Dorothy moved the family to Davis, California. She continued to enjoy life in different California cities but settled in Los Angeles.

I am so sad to hear of Valerie’s passing. We were classmates at Webster Jr. High back in 1972. I was talking to another classmate, Victor Ricks and Valerie and Venita’s names came up and we wondered where they were. I searched facebook and this is how I learned of here passing. Again I am so sad to hear this news. I would appreciate if someone would contact me and let me know what happened to such a beautiful soul. I can be reached at (310 715-1875 or on facebook or email Duanecjones @aol.com. Thank You so much. Warm regards Duane C. Jones
