I was lucky to have Wayne as a step dad in 1986 I was 16 at the time, and going threw a lot as a teenager. I remember him talking to me and helping me threw those crazy teenage years. He drove out to Kent to fix my mustang when it broke down and wasn’t even upset at me.

I remember spending my days in the basement of that old house. The one that stick out at me most is when we had a flood i got out of bed and stepped into 2 feet of water. Him and i spent days pumping that water out drying out the carpet with a propane heater.

He was a great man, and was good to my mom for the few years they were together.

I dont know why i thought about him today out of the blue. I found he had passed earlier this year, maybe it was him saying hi to me that made me think of him. I send all my condolences to his family and hope the ones who remember me are doing well.

My memories of Wayne go along way back. He was always the bearded man I would run into when I would go to town. We would greet with a kiss, long hug, hold hands and adore one another. Wayne was there for my family many times and for my dad when things got tough. He shared his home and bachelor life style with him toward the end of my dad’s days here on earth. They would stay up for hours playing pool, working on a beater vehicle and visiting with friends. When Wayne would come to my home, he had nothing but compliments on the home, land and children who ran amok. Then again, that is a true family. I will miss Wayne and his bearded face that always made me smile, laugh and feel good. His stories will be missed and I will always wish I had written them down. To quote Wayne “here we are again gathering under circumstances to say goodbye to ones we wish would never go”

I have known Wayne a long time,it started when he worked with my Dad;LeRoy Bruns, and I babysat for him when Glenn was just a toddler. When Jim Baxter and I were married, Wayne was bestman at our wedding. We played a lot of pinochle with Wayne, did a lot of jeep runs, camping and partying. He was a good man and had a lot of friends and he will be missed greatly. God Bless the family and always remember the good times as that will carry you through this time of sorrow. Grandpa Wayne was so nice and kind hearted, everybody loved him. I will forever remember all the hunting, fishing, jeeping and camping trips we spent together. Along with Christmas morning breakfast he would cook for the whole family. He taught my brother and I how to play pool. And would spend hours playing game after game with us. I know he is in a better place now. And will be dearly missed. I love you Grandpa, one day we will see eachother again.

Grandpa Wayne was the most influential grandparent in my life. He taught me how to shoot a gun, gave me a horse, spent hours fishing and camping in the yellow bus. I will never forget our many fun Christmases in his basement with the family all gathered and playing pool. I will always hold him dear to my heart and wish condolences to the rest of the family as well. God bless you all.

I met Wayne ,in Sept. 1961 , while I was still in High School . We worked togather at the Time gas staition, in Auburn. Later I worked for Wayne in his cabinet shop. Wayne and I trucked to gather, as a sleeper team, and with him in his truck and me in mine. We traveled the west coast, a winter togather running Montana. We hunted , we shoot a lot of pool, He was my brother, my mother never new I had. Wayne was always there when needed, I just hope i was there for him half as much as he was for me. Wayne is the only person I ever knew that didn’t have a enemy in the world, everyone loved Wayne, Me included. I am spending my time enjoying the memorys of the wonderful times, wheather its the jeep runs, the trucking, hunting, or just playing pool. I never had a better freind, and I will never forget him. I am happy for Wayne , I know he is in a better place. Wayne I love Ya, thats something never was said before, just understood. I treasure the time I had with him. Love Ya Wayne. Jim Baxter
