Young (Elliot) Su Jin
Oct 24, 1977 - Jun 30, 2019
Young Su (Elliot)was born in Younggwang, Jeollanam-do, South Korea in 1977 to Sang Chul Jin and Duk Im Han. By the time he was two years old his family moved to Seoul where he grew up with older brother and older sister, Eun Su and Sun Mi. He was a man with a warm, generous heart and quiet nature; he was always helping his parents even at a young age.
In his teenage years, he accepted Christ and grew up to be a promising young man while endeavoring to live his life led by Christ, joining his church’s worship team and serving as a Sunday school teacher. He majored in electronics at Inha technical college, and was very knowledgeable with computers and computer networking.
Leaving his previous career as an IT engineer behind, he left for Canada to improve his English skills in 2003 and became interested in cooking. He returned to Korea, where studied and acquired a cooking certificate specializing in both Japanese and Korean cuisine. He moved to Washington state in 2008 and pursued his vocation as a dedicated chef specializing in Japanese cuisine.
No matter where he was, he never hesitated to offer his good will and generosity to everyone around him and lived a full life spreading the virtues of God to the people he met in Korea, Canada and the US.
Having been diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in early July 2018, he fought against cancer for over a year; he neither gave up hope nor lost his positive attitude. On 30 June 2019 cancer spread to his spinal cord and brain, his condition quickly deteriorated and his short but radiant life came to a peaceful end.
Young Su is survived by his beloved family: father Sang Chul, sister Sun Mi, brother-in-law Erik and 2 nephews Samuel and Michael. As much as Young Su never stopped extending his warmth, smile and love, he will be greatly missed and remembered by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him, as a remarkable person with a big heart.
A memorial service, with reception to follow, will be held at 13:00 pm on Saturday, August 17th, 2019 at Bonney-Watson Funeral Home, Federal Way, WA.
