Obituary
ABEL CAPARROS REBADULLA
Born on February 11, 1935, in Lopez Quezon, Philippines, Abel was the
youngest of seven children of Isidro and Constancia Rebadulla. As a youngster,
he endured World War II.
After two years of battle with nasopharyngeal cancer,
Abel Caparros Rebadulla, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed
away on May 30, 2008 at Virginia Mason Hosptal in Seattle, WA due
to complications as related to his current illness.
He attended high school at the Philippine Union College Academy and graduated
in 1955. He finished his BS Accounting degree in 1959 at the University of the
East, Philippines. In 1962, he married Erlinda Labay with whom he had three children- Annabelle,
Caroline and Meryl. After 10 years of fruitful marriage, Erlinda passed away. Abel
found love again in Aida Manalo whom he married in 1973.
It was the start of a wonderful marriage lasting 34 years. Marissa, their only daughter
was born a year later exactly to the date of their marriage. Together, Abel and Aida
raised all four children.
Abel worked hard and did everything for his family’s welfare. He was selfless and
determined to provide for his family. His efforts were greatly rewarded by his
children’s success in school and life. All his children have successful careers and
except for Meryl, have their own respective families.
In 2007, in between Abel’s cancer treatment, he and Aida spent two months
touring the US and visiting their daughters in Seattle Marissa and Chicago
Annabelle. He was officially cancer-free in July 2007 and in September 2007,
returned to the States with Aida, to live with his daughter, Marissa and her
husband, Mario, in Seattle, WA.
He spent his last year visiting friends and relatives in Florida, California, Hawaii and
Vancouver, BC. He was always animated when he would talk to old friends on
the phone. He had a positive attitude and remained jovial even after he was
diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer again at the end of March 2008.
He lived life to the fullest even up to his last days.
He will be truly missed by his family who loves him very much, especially by
his wife, Aida, who has been his best friend through the years. In addition to
his wife, he is survived by four children, Annabelle, married to Nick Cuadra,
Caroline, married to Sergio Cuyuca, Meryl, Marissa, married to Mario Ramos
and seven grandchildren, Nicole, Margaux, Don Arturo, Nicolas, Jr., Karl,
Mikhael and Gabriel.
