Adlain Rose Simpkins Culver
July 29, 1921– April 12, 2009
Former North Seattle resident Adlain Rose Simpkins Culver died in Belfair of a cancer at 88.
She was born in Raymond, WA to Miner and Dessie May Henderson Simpkins and grew up in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle and the Washington State School for the Blind.
During World War II, she entertained the service members with music at her mother’s boarding home.
She married George Milton Culver in Seattle on March 17th 1959.
Mrs. Culver and her family lived in Seattle, before moving to the Silverdale area in 2001, then settling in Belfair at her Adult Family Home.
Borne Blind, She worked for Real Silk in the depression, and wrote brail music and poetry all her life.
She received many dance awards from the Seattle Arthur Murray School of Dance.
Survivors include her oldest son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Jackie Culver of Belfair, her Daughter Tambria Culver of Connecticut, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her George Culver, her Husband of 32 years; her youngest son Patrick O Culver USMC her Twin Brother Alrain O Simpkins on Feb 14, 2009, and sister Dessie May Fassett.
Services: A Graveside Service will be on April 22, 2009 at Noon at Crown Hill Cemetery in Seattle. Viewing will be held on April 21, 2009 at Wiggens and Sons. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Wiggen & Sons Funeral Home.
