Albert Andrew Carlson

Obituary

Albert Andrew Carlson passed away at the age 93 on January 8, 2024, at the Judson Park Retirement Center in Des Moines, Washington.  He was born in Vermilion, Alberta, Canada to Andrew and Clara (Eyben) Carlson.  Al lived with his family on their farm in Canada until they moved to Vanport, Oregon.  After Vanport flooded in 1948 he lived with his family in north Portland.  

Al graduated from Jefferson High School, and then earned a degree in Engineering at the University of Portland. He spent his entire career working at Boeing. Al was an avid fisherman and loved to travel.  He is predeceased by his parents, sisters Sylvia McDonald and Myrna Brown, and wife Dorothy (Odell) Carlson.  He is survived by his three children, Barbara (Tom) Palmer, Linda Heavner and Robert Carlson, six grandchildren – Shawn and Jessica Heavner, Michael, Christopher (Emily) and Steven (Hannah) Palmer and Hannah Clark, and five great-grandchildren – Alexia, Joseph, and Zoey Heavner, Patrick and Frederick Palmer.
