Alice K. Tanabe, age 91, passed away on January 1, 2021 in Redmond, WA. Born in Seattle, WA to Yukata Rex and Akino "Tink" Yamashita. Alice married Daichi "Dan" Tanabe (d) of Auburn, WA on August 12, 1956 in Seattle, Washington. Beloved mother of Lane Tanabe and Dawn Keeley; grandmother of Jared Keeley and Rylan Keeley; sister of Elsie Kuniyuki (d) and Gracie Uomoto. She loved ballroom dancing, travel, and reading. Her funny, outgoing, friendly nature will be missed. A celebration of Alice's life will take place at a later date.
She will be greatly missed. What a wonderful woman she was. I am so sorry for your loss.
I remember talking to Alice via phone in 2008 to ask her for a recipe for our family cookbook, “Tastes of the Teradas”. We had such a lovely conversation and finally she said she would share a recipe that her Grandmother got from a good friend. I have baked this delicious banana bread many times and you will find the recipe on page 36. I think of her each time I make it. She is remembered with love.
