November 24, 1938 - September 23, 2022

Obituary

On September 23, 2022, Anita Marie Bray passed away peacefully in Federal Way, Washington. Born November 24, 1938 (83 years), she is greeted in heaven by Paul F. Bray Jr., her beloved husband of 56 years; her son, Carl F. Bray; and her mother and father, Carl and Nina Christiansen. She is survived by her sons, Christopher L. Bray (Edgewood) and Curtis P. Bray (Whitehall, MT); Julie Griffith (sister); Janel Matteson (niece); grandnieces and grandnephews; and an aunt and many cousins in Sweden.

The daughter of Norwegian and Swedish emigrants, Anita was born in Tacoma and raised in Browns Point where she attended Stadium High School and graduated from Washington State University with a degree in education.

Anita was an educator to countless children in the Tacoma, Federal Way and Puyallup school districts. An avid and expert downhill skier, she is lovingly known more for her toboggan rides to the ski patrol shack. At her local island paradise, Anita enjoyed endless hours in the sunshine beachcombing and floating on her air mattress. She was active in many community activities and cherished the company and friendship of her island neighbors and skiing partners.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers at St. Francis Hospital (Federal Way) that provided superb care and comfort and helped usher her into the embrace of her waiting family.

A private interment service, followed by a summer-season celebration of life for family and friends, will be announced at a later date.
