Obituary
Anna Marie (Hadley) Jones, age 95, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017. She was born on March 10, 1922 in Green Acres, WA to George and Hilda (Heitztuman) Hadley. Anna Marie grew up in Pullman, WA with her mother Hilda, step-father George Cairy and younger sister Betty June. She graduated from Pullman High School and studied one year at Washington State University.
Anna Marie was 18 years old when she got her first paying job. She worked as a night usher at the town’s movie theatre. It was during one of her shifts where she met a handsome young man named Harry Lindley Jones who had been working on the marquis. On June 18, 1944, Anna and Harry were married. Together, they had two sons and two daughters. Anna Marie and Harry enjoyed boating, fishing and bowling as well as spending time with family and friends.
After Anna Marie and Harry moved to Seattle she stayed at home taking care of their children and the home they built together in Normandy Park. Later she worked at Frederick & Nelson in the Fine China department. In 1992, she retired from the Boeing Company after working as a secretary for 11 years.
Anna Marie’s special interests and hobbies included traveling, gardening, garden club, reading, day trips with the Senior Center, watching the Seahawks, Mariners, Cougars and Dancing with the Stars as well as getting together with her family and friends as often as possible. She always enjoyed attending social events.
Some of her favorite times out and about were to watch her grandchildren playing sports, going out to lunch with family or friends, potluck dinners at the Cove, wine tasting in Eastern Washington, and picnics at the Tacoma Waterfront.
She is survived by son Harry (Eileen), daughters Patty (Michael), Betty and son Robert (Terry). Three grandchildren Michael, Robert and Ryan. And two step-grandchildren Erica (Travis) and Matthew. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 28 years, Harry Jones. A private interment will be held at Washington Memorial Park, Sea-Tac, WA.
