Dear Uchikura Family,

I was so sorry to hear the news about Anna. She was a very special person and I feel fortunate to have gotten to know her. It was a pleasure to teach her here at Newport High School. She worked very hard and always wanted to do her best. I will miss her smiling face and giggle. My sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Ritsuko, Ken and Azusa,

Anna will always have a treasured place in my heart. Anna brought joy into the lives of so many people — especially my family. I will always think of Anna when I make a gingerbread house, when I arrange the Christmas village and decorate the Christmas tree. I will hear her laughter and see her bright smile.

Anna was able to give joy and love to other people because of the joy and love her family gave her. You are wonderful parents and a wonderful big sister. Thank you for sharing Anna with us. We are truly blessed to have known her — even though it was for far too short of time.

There is no rhyme or reason for Anna’s death — no words I could possibly say that would make this time any easier for you. I can only hope and pray that with each passing day, the pain of losing Anna gets a little less. May your beautiful memories of your truly amazing daughter fill your lives and hearts. My heart and prayers go out to you.

I had the pleasure to work with Anna for three years while she was in middle school. She opened my heart and brought smiles to everyone’s faces. She will be dearly missed, but never forgotten!

My heart ached when I heard about Anna passing. Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in my thoughts and prayers. Words cannot even begin to express my sorrow. I had the pleasure of knowing Anna for all her years at Eastgate Elementary and now here at Newport High School. She brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

My words seem inadequate, but with this note, I send you and your family my love and sympathy on your loss. I know that this loss touches us all very deeply as we all face these first numbing days of grief. Know that you have my sympathy and my friendship. Anna will be dearly missed, but never forgotten!

I was shocked and saddened to hear of your beautiful little girl passing. I’m so very sorry she is gone from you. Losing a spouse is hard, losing a child – or a child losing a sibling – is unthinkable. As your neighbor for many years I watched your little girl grow up. I still see Anna’s lovely face as she would shyly hand me a Christmas gift every Christmas. I’d often see her walking up the street – sometimes with the little dogs, sometimes with mom or dad – always radiantly lovely and sweetly shy. Always a precious smile for me. May Anna rest in the arms of the angels now. I will pray for you all and ask God to bring you comfort as you deal with this unimaginable loss.
