The season and time came to a close for our brother Anthony Dion Joiner Sr. on Tuesday July 19, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father Larry Lamar Joiner Sr., his brother Larry Lamar Joiner Jr., his grandfather’s William Lamar Joiner and Chester Herman Hicks, and his grandmothers Anna Marie Joiner and Meldon Marie Hicks, and also by his beloved daughter Angelica Deseree Joiner.
Anthony Dion Joiner Sr. was born June 15, 1972 to Larry and Deborah Joiner (Williams) of Pasadena, California. Anthony confessed and accepted Christ at an early age. He was educated in the California School District and attended John Muir High School.
Known by his family as “Whooper” with the big smile and deep dimples. Anthony spent his younger years as the trickster, playing jokes on everyone in the family. He also developed a love for animals at a young age and demonstrated this by bringing home any stray that he could find. Anthony had a special relationship with his grandfather, he often walked Anthony to the school bus stop and occasionally they would miss the bus (wink wink). Everyone knew that Granddaddy and Anthony intentionally missed the school bus so they could have more bonding time. In his teenage years Anthony had a pigeon coop, training pigeons to tumble and do all kinds of tricks. This love for pigeons sent him to the hospital, but that did not stop him from reaching his goal of being the best pigeon trainer in the neighborhood.
Anthony’s passion for cars blossomed in his teenage years. He loved taking cars apart, he even put a love seat in the back of Volkswagen once. He was always the cleanest one rolling and everybody wanted their cars like Ants – especially his beloved CADILLAC.
Anthony relocated to Washington over 20 years ago. In 2001, he met his friend, the love of his life, Rosie Houston. After a long and entertaining courtship they united in marriage on April 1st, 2004. The date of their marriage is just another example of Anthony’s wittiness and sense of humor, and Rosie was always down for the ride.
Anthony was a faithful employee of Polygon Northwest/Williams Lyon for over 20 years building homes throughout the Pacific Northwest. Anthony enjoyed what he did and shared his proud moments of home building through conversation and social media. Anthony was “Mr. Fix It” he could fix anything in your home and everything under the hood of your car.
Anthony had a big heart, affectionately known by his friends as “Ant.” He was the life of the party and a great entertainer, who ensured that there was never a dull moment. Anthony is the biggest Philadelphia Eagle fan in heaven, and he coined the phrase “Drop Down and Get Your Eagle On!” Ant was passionate about motorcycles, classic cars, music, barbecuing and life. Anthony’s family were the jewels in his crown as his devotion to his family was priceless. He laughed with them, loved them, provided for and protected them. Anthony lived a good life of laughter, abundance, joy and love. He will be truly missed. One of Anthony’s greatest joys was the birth of his granddaughter Savannah Rose who affectionately called him G Daddy. Although he was not physically there, he face-timed his grand-baby every day and it was one of the highlights of his day.
He leaves to cherish his memory his lovely and faithful wife Rosie of 12 years; two sons: Anthony Jr. (BumBum aka Big Jac) and Kevionne (Lil Jac); four daughters: Asiah (Chocolate), Alexis (lite lite), Arayah (Sunshine), and Aniyah (Skinny Minnie); granddaughter Savannah Rose Ellison; mother, Deborah Joiner of California, two brothers: Tremaine Williams (Leia) and Eric Williams; three sisters: Ashley Williams, Meldon Tweet Joiner-Counts (Dedrick) and Pearl Williams, all of California; two God-daughters, Diamond and Devine E. Howard, both of Federal Way; and a vast circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends!

To the Joiner Family:
Although you may not know me, I am a member of the Joinet family. I grew up around Jerry, Joe an Sandra. I knew Uncle Doc and Aunt Rosie very well. My grandmother, Sallie Mae Joiner Roundtree was Uncle Doc’s sister. My Dad was Edward Roundtree. We just had the Joiner-Roundtree Family Reunion. I met Nina and her husband for the first time. We took pictures together.
Some of my immediate family attended Ssndra’s home going celebration today.
