Arlene Louise Delaurenti KOGUT
Arlene, 79, born December 22, 1936 to Louie and Mary (Cecchini) Delaurenti, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 1, 2016. Her bright smile, unflagging optimism and warm heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The eldest of three daughters, she was born and raised in Renton, WA, and attended Sartori Elementary, Renton Jr High, and Renton High School, where she was a member of the Honor Society, Glee Club, A Capella Choir and Latin Club, among others. She then attended Griffin Murphy Business College in Seattle and was employed by Kenworth Motortruck Company.
While living in an apartment in Seattle, she met her future husband, Peter Kogut. They were married on June 25, 1960 and moved to Burien in 1962, where they raised their four children. Arlene was a devoted and loving mother who was involved in many of her children’s various activities.
Throughout the years she enjoyed camping, mushroom and huckleberry picking, bowling, golfing, gardening, singing, cooking and baking, traveling, games and puzzles, talking and laughing, trivia, and driving around The Point. A good Italian who loved food, drink, family gatherings and an occasional bocce game, she also embraced her husband’s Polish heritage and traditions.
Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Peter; children Linda, Michael (Shannon), Anthony, and Kathryn (Tim) Moen; grandchildren TJ, Micah, Marinna and Chris; sisters Roberta Logue and Diane (Charles) Seitz; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She will be forever cherished – beloved wife, treasured mother, doting Nona, adored sister, humorous aunt, and caring friend.
A Memorial Mass for Arlene will be held Saturday, January 9th at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 15226 21st Ave. SW, Burien, WA 98166.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice.
We enjoyed reconnecting with Arlene at class reunions! When we think of Arlene, her smile and friendliness come to mind, She will be missed when the Class of ’54 meets this summer to celebrate years of friendship as well as our 80th birthdays! Our sympathy and prayers go out to Peter and family during this difficult time.
