Obituary
Audrey (Audie) Gladys Harper passed away on October 19, 2015. Audrey is survived by her sister, Kathleen Doris Robinson of Aldergrove, BC, son Steven of Kent; daughters, Mary (Brian) Horn of Kent, Lisa (Scott) Eylander of Kent and Betty (Gerald) Thuney, Sr. of Auburn. She is also survived by her niece Geraldine (Wayne) Povey of Aldergrove, BC and nephew Larry (Lorna) Robinson of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Audie’s adoring grandchildren are: Mitchell, Sarah, JJ, David, Bradley, Nichole, Russell, Brittany and Jonathan. Her great grandchildren are: Liberty, Benjamin, Joshua, James, Ryan and Charlotte. Audie was born at home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on September 20, 1928 to Walter Benjamin and Doris (Heath) Lee. She married the love of her life, Douglas Stuart Harper, on April 4, 1951. Doug graduated from the University of Washington in 1955 and soon after, Audie and Doug made their home in Richland, WA; where they started their family. In August 1965, the family relocated to Kent, WA with their four children.
Audie was the traditional homemaker and was the master at her craft. Her home was the central gathering place and she was always ready to offer tasty delights. Some of Audie’s interests included, singing in school and church choir, painting, gardening, playing with her Bunco group, being a fan of the Seattle Sounders and Seahawks, and baking up a storm. Audie and Doug played a pivotal role in raising their grandchildren. Their focus, support and love for their family was exemplary.
Doug and Audie bought ocean front property in Ocean Shores, WA in the early 80’s. Their dream came true in the mid 90’s when their son, Steve and family friend Keith, built their vacation home. The family loved to spend time at their beach house.
Audie was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Ahmes Court No. 41. She truly enjoyed being a part of a spectacular group of women who came together to support the Shrine Hospital.
Audie was preceded in death by her husband, Doug. She remained active, joyful, upbeat and positive all of her days. A genuine lady whose glass was always half full.
A celebration of Audie’s life will be held on Friday, October 30th at 12:30PM at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd. SeaTac, WA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Ahmes Court No. 41 and mailed to Ahmes Court No. 41 c/o Sandy McKenzie, 2419 Rocky Pt. Rd. NW, Bremerton, WA 98312-2021.

Steve, Mary, Lisa, and Betty and Families;
We would like to tell you what a thrill it was for Lisa and I to visit with Auntie Audrey on October 4th. She never stopped showing her tremendous love, joy and genuine care for each person she has ever come in contact with and she did it with such grace. That genuine Love came through during our visit and every time I have been lucky enough to be in her presence. Please except our sincere condolences to you all. She will be deeply missed by our family. You all hold a special place in my heart and I will always be thankful for our friendship.

Audrey,such a wonderful, fun, happy and gracious lady. Together with Doug they were an incredible team that raised a terrific family and continued hands-on nurturing for members of their extended family long after their nest was “empty.” The one word that always comes to mind when thinking of her is “nice.” She was one of the nicest people we’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She will truly be missed. Happy trails, Audie.
Love,
Greg and Denise Anderson

My heart is heavy with hearing of the loss of your Mom. She was always a ray of sunshine when I saw her. She was warm, loving, and always smiling! She lived her life well, and with such great purpose. You all are a testament to that… she was so proud of you all. You will all be in my thoughts at this sad time.

Dear Harper Family,
I hope you know how close Audie and Doug were to us, and how much joy they brought every time they visited our little town and restaurant. I’m so glad that I had the chance to visit with Audie the last time she was in! She looked so good, and still had that beautiful smile and great sense of humor. We will miss her very much, but will always remember the joy she brought to our lives. Please know that she was like family to us and we share your sorrow, but we also share in the happiness and memories of knowing such a wonderful woman.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and always. Sending love and hugs,
Alec & Renate and John, Rachel, Josh & Emily

A note to say that I feel very lucky to have known Audie. Her positive outlook, genuine goodness and generosity makes you want to be a better person. I am sorry to have missed her celebration but I know from Greg that you all gave her a send off she was sure to enjoy looking down on. May the hole in your hearts grow smaller each year as the memories grow more vivid.
