Obituary
Barbara Dickinson Hilton died at home in Federal Way on February 18 at age 87. Born April 17, 1918 in Billings, Montana, she lived most of her adult life in Tacoma and Seattle. Before marrying R. John Hilton in 1945, she taught in elementary schools at Maple Valley and Fairfax, served as one of the first women National Park Service Rangers at the Nisqually Entrance to Mt. Rainier, and worked for the Washington State Welfare Department.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Floyd S. Dickinson and Clara Thien Dickinson; her brother Edmund J. Dickinson; R. John, her husband of 24 years; and one grandson. She is survived by her six children and their spouses and families, Kathleen C. Hilton; Robert J. Hilton and Sandy; Judith A. Brusseau and Joseph; Bernard E. Hilton and Robin; Loretta A. Pike and William; Rita M. Hilton and Philip Joyce; 11 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews who remained an important part of her life.
Barbara successfully navigated multiple bouts of cancer with a style which only she refused to consider bravery. She loved family, friends, travel, and life; her active presence will be sorely missed by all who mourn her passing. Lory, Kathy and Family,
Our thoughts are with you and yours. Your mom has been part of our family and we enjoyed every minute of it. Jessica will especially miss exchanging seashells every time she visited Santa Rosa.
Our prayers and love to you.
Gerry.
We will miss her visits and her wonderful stories of her life.

A gracious lady and a wonderful friend. Her children, spouses and their families were the joy of her life. They provided special times and wonderful memories for her. She was my “jet set” friend, a name I gave her because of all her travels. She loved life and shared the joys she found there. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. With fondest memories and deepest sympathy. Guin
