Obituary
Barbara H. Bertolin died December 30, 2022. She was born January 19, 1928 in Bellingham, Washington to Nellie and Fred Hindley who emigrated from England. The family moved to Renton where she graduated from Renton High School. Barbara was a graduate of the University of Washington, where she met the love of her life, Bill. They married in 1951 following graduation from Swedish School of Nursing, they moved to Berkeley, California while Bill completed seminary studies and she worked as a Public Health nurse.
They moved to Tacoma, Washington and Barbara taught at Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing. Barbara was a pioneer in Rehabilitation Nursing training and in 1967 founded a program at Good Samaritan Hospital, Puyallup where she served as Director for more than two decades. She earned a regional award from the American College of Nursing Home Administrators and served on the Executive Committee for Geriatric Nursing Practice from the American Nurses Association.

Barbara was a lifelong Episcopalian who actively lived out her strong and solid faith serving her church, family and community. A loving spouse, daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, she cherished and dedicated her life to her family.
Barbara and Bill enjoyed many travels together and shared their home and gift of hospitality with family and friends while savoring the sunset over the Olympics. She is preceded in death by husband Bill. She will be passionately missed by her family; son, Mark (Sheri), granddaughter, Ashley Wilson (Joe), grandson, Bryce, (Madison), great granddaughter, Hallie and daughter, Jane.

Her burial and Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd at 4:00 p.m. located at 345 S 312th in Federal Way, WA. Memorial donations may be sent to Good Samaritan Foundation (rehab).
