Barbara Jean Norquist
1952 – 2017
Barbara, or “Barb” as she was more commonly known, passed away on the evening of December 27, 2017 at the age of 66.
She was born in Seattle, Washington on January 21, 1952 along with her twin brother, Robert. She was one of three children, including ‘big sister’ Sharon.
Barb attended Franklin High School and, in recent years, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Systems from Phoenix University. Out of high school, she worked for Pacific Northwest Bell (a.k.a. the phone company) for thirty years, then took a dream job working for Alaska Airlines HQ, which afforded her great travel benefits.
Her passion was travel, anything relating to Egypt and archaeological digs, sci-fi (especially Star Wars and The Avengers 1960s British TV series) and above all else, Disneyland.
Barbara had a generous heart and devoted efforts toward charity and community service, most memorably volunteering for Northwest Harvest in their food preparation events at their Kent facility.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Norquist and sister, Sharon Gregg. Barbara is survived by her twin brother, Robert, her mother, Doralyn, and her daughter, Cherie Hasson, grandson, Knox Van Metre, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Barbara will be at rest in the Garden of Flowers, next to her father and sister.
I love you Mom. You are so loved by so many. Rest in peace sweet woman. Thank you for being my Mom.

Barb was one of my favorite people to work with at US West / Qwest. We worked together in the Environmental, Health and Safety Department and helped each other during the difficult times – with humor. Barb had such a great laugh and could see the absurd side of things. She had a way of always cheering me up. We both had parents about the same age from the Dakotas and enjoyed comparing their similarities (isn’t that TV a little loud?). So sorry to learn that she has moved on before the rest of us are ready to let her go! My heart goes out to her family and daughter. You all were always top of her heart. She will be missed.
