Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce that Belaye Stefanos at age 76, a loving son, brother, cousin, and uncle passed away on October 8, 2022. Belaye was born to Tibletse Araya and Stefanos Enquai on October 3, 1946 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (although the family is originally from Eritrea). Belaye was a loving son, brother, cousin, and uncle. He is one of 13 siblings: Yohannes, Yosef (deceased), Gidey (deceased), Roman (deceased at birth), Asgedet, Woldu (deceased), Belaye, Alemash, Girma, Samson, Benyam and Daniel.
As a child growing up in Gullelle, Addis Abeba he was outgoing, energetic, and a little mischievous. He participated in various competitions, one of his favorites being marbles. Belaye had a very magnetic, competitive, and charismatic spirit that lasted throughout his life. As a high school student, Belaye became an exchange student finishing high school at Puyallup High while living with the Jacobs family. Later he attended the University of Puget Sound, graduating with the class of 1971 where he was part of a fraternity and made many lifelong friends.
As an adult Belaye’s professional activities included working in various healthcare fields and in Human Services in the management sectors, as well as sales/marketing in the corporate world in the states of Washington, Ohio and Washington D.C.
Belaye Stefanos lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed having a good time while encouraging others to do the same, he will be remembered lovingly by his family and friends.
