It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother Berit Osnes. She is survived by her husband Norvald, with which she just celebrated her sixty-first wedding anniversary, her children Larry Osnes and Debra Greeny, her son-in-law, John Greeny and grandsons, Erik and Mark Greeny. In 1952, at the age of seventeen, Berit Olsen immigrated from Kopervik, Norway to Seattle, Washington after stops in New York City, Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin. It is in Seattle that Berit met Norvald Osnes, who was from Torvastad, Norway, a town on the same small island named Karmoy. They were married on November 23, 1955. Berit was a proud Norwegian, who loved reading about the Vikings and other Norwegian history. She was an avid Soccer fan and her favorite player was Norwegian left back John Arne Riise. As per her wishes there will be no memorial and in lieu of flowers the family asks that people make a donation in her honor to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or similar charity.rity Children’s Diabetes Foundation or similar charity.
