Bernice K. Price-Cameron

Obituary
August 22, 1930 – March 27, 2021
Age 90, a Seattle resident for over 70 years, passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 27, 2021. She was born on August 22, 1930 in Wharton, Texas to the marital union of Adolphus Sr., and Nettie Gill and had ten siblings.
The Gill Family traveled frequently as migrant workers and she received her early childhood education in Texas, Arizona, California and Oregon. When she was a teenager, she relocated to Washington state to live with her eldest brother, Adolphus Jr., and his family, for a better opportunity in higher education.
She graduated from Cleveland High School and Seattle University. She was married to Milton V. Price, Sr., for 27 years until his death, and Rev. Samuel S. Cameron, Sr., for 28 years. She was an active member of First AME Church Seattle and Delta Sigma Theta sorority for over 70 years. She spent her 40-year career as an educator in the Seattle and West Palm Beach school districts before retiring.
Bernice was a devoted housewife, wonderful mother and true educator. She enjoyed taking care of her family and was a strong pillar of faith to all she loved. She dedicated her life to God and made it her mission to improve the lives of others with love, joy and compassion. She was source of strength for many through their passions, trials, and tribulations. She was an anointed prayer warrior who believed in holiness and was well known for her trademark phrases: “In the name of Jesus” and “God is good” – a testament to her faith.
She enjoyed dancing, fashion and jewelry shopping, arts and crafts, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She played the piano and loved seeing her siblings, extended family, and friends. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found volunteering at her church or attending a Delta Sigma Theta sorority event. She was a true queen who was loved by many like a second mother. Her beautiful smile, sweet spirit, and heart of gold will be greatly missed!
She is survived by her children: Antoinette, Justin, Eric, Marcus, Vernette, and Keith Price; grandchildren Jason, Jovan, Domonique, Demetrus, Morgan, Tyler, and Eric Jr. Price, Erin Price-Dickson, and Alexandra Morton; great-grandchild Amia Padero; and two great-great grandchildren; brother Donald Gill and his family; sisters Alice and Barbara Gill, Emma Jacobs and their families; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband’s Milton Price Sr., and Samuel Cameron, Sr.; son Milton Jr.; parents Adolphus Sr., and Nettie Gill; sisters Nettie Debbs and Dorothy Leatherberry; and brothers Adolphus Jr., Julius, Howard, and Valerie Gill.
