I am so missing my big brother. I long to hear your voice and laughter. You were my brother and best friend. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about you and wish that I could have one more conversation, one more laugh and one more All Star Weekend.
You will forever be in my heart.
I love and miss you Phell!
LaTanya,
My deepest condolences go to you and your family. May God grant you strength through this time and comfort in knowing that one day, the two of you will reunite.~Stephani.
Burt was a kind and loving man who drew together many different kinds of people. His generous heart was something he didn’t hide from the world. When we were new to the neighborhood he made us feel welcome, that meant alot. His dynamic personality and kind heart were a combination not often found-truly a gift he shared with all who met him. We were blessed to have known him. To Burts family-we hope you can find peace and comfort in your hearts and we are so sorry that you have lost someone so dear to you, especially at such a young age. Our hearts and prayers are with you.
From my family to yours,we send our Condolences, and although bert is no longer with us in body he continues to be over us at night, look up its the brightest star with the biggest smile.God Bless You All
My condolences goes out to the Benton Family. Bert was a good man always laughing, I remember when I first met Bert on the outside basketball court at ST Marys 1975 he was the coolest guy in the school, singing Jackson 5 xmas songs in the summer time when we lived on Pine st lol and playing for Rainier on a undefeated Pee wee Championship team in 1979. You will be missed Phil but never forgotten.
Latanya & entire Benton Family,

Bert, inspired me as a man and as a father. There are two things I never saw him do, frown and leave the house not dressed to impress. I will miss the way he called me “B” with his infectious smile. I will miss laughing with him. I take comfort in knowing that our separation from our brother is brief. My thoughts and prayers are with you-Benjamin
To the Benton family with sympathy and love you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Bert was like a big brother to me. I remember the impromptu house parties that we had, going to the movies in the Station Wagon, Playing the dozens, The “Crew”, and RHS.
Tanya, Mom, Jada, Tia, Lonzo and the rest of the Family, My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you. May God continually bless you and keep you in your time of sorrow. Much Love,

I will miss you,my Brother
You will be truly missed my brother. Our condolence goes to your family.
One of my fondest memories of Bert is working at Duwamish. We may not have liked the stretches, however, being a member of the “black shoe crew”, Bert never let us forget to “put our hands on our hips and let our backbones slip!” My heart and prayers are with the family. I hope a smile will come to Tonyas face when she met our manager, Chuck Graves, and he commented about how that must be why Bert was dancing and smiling all the time. I will always carry great, funny, happy memories of Bert with me. God Bless all of you. Take care.
To the Benton family…I have known Bert since the 5th grade and never had or seen him without a smile on his face,or making a joke of something. He was a very lovable person. Wishing you the best in your time of need. May God be with you and comfort you .
God Bless
My condolence and prays to Jada and the rest of the Benton family. I last saw Bert several years ago. I called him “BB”. I would stop by when in town to visit, Mom & Dad, Jada & Larry and BB would swing through. He was so full of life, laughing joking always upbeat and fun to be around. His smile, outgoing personality will surely be missed.
Bert you were like a brother to me. We have known each other since kindergarden. Our mothers are friends. I will truly miss you. You gave me good advice when I needed it and laughs to. I love you brother. Until we meet again.
Sheree or ReeRee as you used to call me.
Our hearts go out to the Benton Family. Bert will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful person and friend. We always look forward to going on our yearly fishing trip to Richland, Oregon with the fellas. During our last visit, we all ordered a personalized wood grain fishing pole. I will miss being Mr. Rogers in your neighborhood inside joke.
The Kedric Jackson family forwards all our condolences to the Benton family. Thank you Bert for all the childhood fun!!! Kedric Jackson
I remember Bert from Roosevelt High School and he always had a smile on his face.

Jada, the last time I saw Bert was at Nicole and Stephen’s wedding, he had a smile as usual. To think I have known you guys since we lived a couple of blocks from each other in the CD since I was like six or 7 years old. Jada, My prayers go out to you and your family. May our Lord Jesus Christ continually manifest peace in your lives.
I’ve been back in Seattle for 2yrs now. One of the people I wanted to get in contact with was Bert. I remember when playing for Roosevelt football team. In practice Bert was playin the dozens with someone on the team during warm ups. Well someone must of said something to him cause he replied, ” yo mama!” The line coach heard him and said to him ” Benton, Get up and run around and around!” The look of Bert while running laps was holarious. God speed to the light my brother. I will miss you. My prayers with the family for your loss.
Bert was a sub-contractor with the company I work for. I will miss his smiling face and making his popcorn and bringing him a Coke when he came into the office to pick up his check. My thoughts and prayers are with the Benton Family~ Bert will be deeply missed around here.
Our deepest condolences from Payroll Services at Harborview Medical Center.
LaTanya, words can not express what my feelings are for you and your family during this time. I will be praying that God gives you and your family strength during your time of mourning. God may have taken Raphael from your presence but know one can take away the memories, the laughter and joy that the two of you shared together.I love you and I am here for you.Your friend for ever, Denise
My heart goes out to the Benton family. I spent three years in high school with Bert, he was the nicest person you could have ever met. Playing sports at RHS created a bond with the athletic student body and it was an honor to have met such a wonderful person. May God hold your hearts in his hand while you go through this painful time. Just know God is in the building.
To the entire Benton family, I am deeply sadden by the loss of our brother Bert. In this time of celebrating his home going remember as I will the impact he made on all of us. He had a infectous smile and a sincere personality and I am honored to have known him. God bless you all.
Dear LaTanya and family: I only met your husband once while standing in a long line at Walgreens a couple of Christmas’s ago and we chatted while waiting. I remember thinking what a nice smile he had and how friendly he was. My deepest sympathy to you all.
