Betty lived in several northwest communities while growing up, eventually settling in Seattle to raise a large family. She liked to sew, crochet, embroider and quilt. She was an avid reader and crossword enthusiast. Another favorite activity was collecting antique furniture and vintage glassware. Betty also enjoyed entertaining family and friends with husband Marty at home and at their Herron Island retreat. For many years she helped with the family business, the Kilowatt restaurant, typing the daily menu specials, keeping the monthly books, and lending a hand when special catering events arose. Her family was her focus. She spent many years raising children, helping with the grandkids, and tending to others. She loved, was loved and always had a smile. Thank you, Betty

I have so many wonderful memories of Betty and will always remember the way she loved and cared for her family. All of us were blessed to be a part of that.
Anna and Family,
Our thoughts are with you during this sad and difficult time.
As we reflect on all the things that we have learned from Grandma Betty, one thing stands out. Family. Her family was very important to her and she made sure that we all knew it. I can still remember going over to visit Grandma and Grandpa when I was young and there were always “special treats” in the cupboard waiting for us. 🙂 Christmas gatherings were always fun. We will always keep these memories in our hearts.
I have many fond memories of Betty and Marty at their home in Ballard and on Heron Island. She was a great sister-in-law and took wonderful care of her mother, Mabel. Though we haven’t been in touch recently, I have thought of her often and will miss her.
Dear Pete, Anna and family,
It has been many years since I have seen Aunt Betty, but in my memories she always has a smile, a kind word, and something tasty waiting for us kids on the kitchen table (though I suspect that might have been Uncle Marty’s doing). I am so sorry for your loss – It is tough to lose a parent, especially one as loved as she was.
Cousin Valerie
I remember playing in the large home in Ballard as a kid. We would ramble from attic to basement making forts and generally making noise and totally enjoying ourselves. At the conclusion of play time you could always count on great vittles and lots of folks coming and going.
Aunt Betty was a treasure.
