Obituary
Betty Louise Bartol, 98, passed away peacefully in her home, on February 28, 2021. She was the youngest of 5 children born to Minnie and Frank Boje. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma and worked as a secretary to save money for college. She attended WSU in Pullman where she met her future husband in the breakfast cafeteria. She and Alfred (Al) married in 1948 and moved to West Seattle. They have blessed with their love 4 children Gregory (Louise Bartol), Christine Williams (Michael), Martha Larsen (Gary), Bonita Gust (Guy), 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and numerous godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, exchange students and church members. Betty was always gracious, upbeat, stylish and generous, and many people called her “friend”. Betty will be greatly missed!
Betty returned to school in 1965, earning her bachelor and Master degrees in English and Education, which she put to use teaching business skills at two community colleges. She was a member of the Women’s University Club, Seattle for 25 years. Betty enjoyed dancing, rollerskating, theater and music, and loved Elvis and Betty Boop. She powered her way through the 70s driving her 1968 Camaro 327. Betty and Al traveled to Europe, Hawaii, Tahiti, Canada and the US National Parks, making new friends wherever they went. She had lifelong Bridge Club friends of which there are 3 surviving members of the initial 14.
Our family is grateful that Pastor Erik Kindem from Peach Lutheran Church was always available to mom and dad when they needed him, for prayer, conversation and support. Betty referred to her caregivers as “my girls”. The family would especially like to thank Malea, Liz, Vilma, Shirley, Alice, Integrity Care and Hospice West Seattle for their exceptional care.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 16th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., at Bonney Watson Sea-Tac. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 26th at 9:30 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery.
