Beverly Marie Barkley Vande Voorde
Beverly Marie Barkley Vande Voorde was the daughter of Philip and Pauline Barkley, born January 14, 1930 in Yakima, Washington. The family moved to Tulia Lake, California when she was eight, and on to Hereford, Texas when she was eleven, where she spent the rest of her childhood and early adulthood.
She went to Texas Tech University in Lubbock for two years, and in early 1952 moved to Seattle where she lived in Fremont and worked at the Smith Tower.
She met Duane Vande Voorde on a blind date in June of 1953 and they were married 4 months later on October 2, 1953 in Seattle. Daughter Diana Marie was born October 15, 1954, and son Mark Philip was born May 1, 1958. She has four grandchildren, Christoffer, Valaree, Ariel, and Danielle, and five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Janie, Colton, Jaecob and baby Ashlynn who has her smile. She died at home, peacefully on May 27, 2010.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, SeaTac, Washington.
