Obituary
Billie Burlene Pulliam
Billie, a long time Milton resident, passed away Wednesday October 22, 2014 at the age of 96. Billie was born in Tacoma, Wash. on Nov. 17, 1917 and at the age of 12 her family moved to Milton where she resided until her death. She attended Milton and Fife schools. In 1936 Billie met Marion Dennis Pulliam, a cute sailor with a southern accent at a Tacoma dance. It wasn’t long before they were married and were blessed with 4 children. Billie loved to work and keep busy at all times. She liked to sew, read, work in the yard & loved to knit, crochet and oil paint. Every family member owns a Grandma Billie afghan and has an oil painting on their wall. She also played piano and loved to sing. As a teenager Billie and her sister Darlene sang with a Milton band at dances and on the radio as “The Sunshine Sisters”. Billie and Marion were rock hounds and avid travelers. For 15 years, after Marion’s retirement, they were snowbirds spending winters in Arizona where they enjoyed life in the desert, playing bingo, playing pool and round dancing with the many new friends they made. Billie is survived by daughter Joanne Jared (Russ Sr.), sons Jerry Pulliam (Vicky), Dennis Pulliam (Francie), 7 grandchildren, Russ Jr., Michelle, David, Jamy, Curtis, Audrey and Jeffrey, and 9 great grandchildren, Sydney, Alex, Mason, Ryan, Jessica, Chad, Tatum, Anna Lee and Barrett. She was preceeded in death by husband Marion, son Larry Wayne, parents Dave and Madeline Lundin, brother Gordon Lundin, sister Darlene Lundin Arnold & great grandaughter Whitney Marshall. Per Billie’s request there will be no funeral service
What a beautiful lady!!!! My prayer’s are with you , that you find peace and happyness in your lives and prayers, and that they will be a comfort to you.
Aunt Billie will be very missed. She was full of life, always loved her family, and had wonderful stories to share. A wonderful woman with a big heart.
Mama is at peace now, no more pain, no worries. She lived a long fulfilled life and has now gone to join our father, her husband, Marion.
Thank you to anyone who played a part in making the last 7 months of her life more bearable.
Thank you to her Grandchildren, son and son-in-law who joined me at her bedside as she passed on to a far better place.
Mama will be missed.
Our prayers are with you Joanne and Russ. We know how much love and devotion the two of you showed towards your Mother. She was really blessed to have such a wonderful daughter and son in law, as well as all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is at peace at last.
Grandma Billie was such a beloved part of our family, and one of the most unique and interesting people I have had the privilege to know. She never ceased to entertain and surprise us with her candidness and her funny stories. There are so many Billie-isms that myself and my family and friends still use today in fond remembrance of her. Memories of Christmas Eve at her house will always serve as a symbol of the closeness and sanctity of our family to me. She gave so many of us life, and brought us together to create something uniquely beautiful that never has, and never will exist again.
Love and miss you, Grandma.
