Bishop LeRoy Watson

Obituary

His Formative Years

LeRoy Watson was born on March 29, 1950, in Hammond, Louisiana, to Jesse Watson Sr. and Dorothy Clark Watson Boyd.  Bishop LeRoy Watson transitioned into the arms of our Loving Father on October 13, 2022.  We know that the Angels rejoiced as he transcended into eternal peace and joy.

LeRoy Watson graduated from Greenville Park High School and later moved to Seattle, WA on September 21,1968 where he worked for General Disposal and Allied Waste for over 40 years as a Sanitation Specialist.

His Spiritual Awakening in Christ Jesus

Elder LeRoy Watson spent time incarcerated and after being spared of a 15-year sentence, he turned his life around. On January 1, 1981, The Holy Spirit spoke to LeRoy while at a tavern and convicted him saying, “what are you doing in a place like this?” In 1983, LeRoy Watson accepted his call into ministry under the leadership of Bishop F. D. LeFall – Full Gospel Federated Church of West Seattle.

The Second Calling – Prison Ministry

In 1993 Bishop LeRoy Watson heard the voice of the Lord again, telling him to go into street ministry with Christ-centered actions by preaching and carrying the cross in the Central District of Seattle. Bishop LeRoy Watson was faithful to this specific calling for 3-years.  In 1997, Bishop LeRoy Watson answered another distinct call from God “start a prison ministry.”  Bishop’s transformative ministry process of reaching and teaching individuals experiencing incarceration was not done alone.  He partnered with great men and women to deliver excellence in Prison Ministry.  Such as Dr. Wilbert Reed, Sr, and later Pastor Matthew J. Thornton of New Direction Missionary Baptist Church, Evangelist Lettie Braxton, Rev. Ricky Willis, Sis. Marian Yearby, and the late Rev. Tyrone Bolds to develop Prayer Warriors Prison Ministry. New Direction was a continual financial support to the progression and sustainability of The Prayer Warriors Prison Ministry. The Prayer Warriors Prison Ministry was extremely impactful reaching the span of nine major prisons within the State of Washington. The Prayer Warrior Prison Ministry often frequented, Walla Walla, Airway Heights, Clallam Bay, Purdy, Shelton, Cedar Heights, and King County jail.

Excerpt from a loved one and ministry partner…

The first trip to Clallam Bay was with the Jesus of Nazareth Reach-Out Ministry under Rev. Gerard Sanders of Edmonds, WA which he paved the way and turned over to Bishop LeRoy Watson. Others that went on the initial trip were Rev. Maynard Sopher, Sis. Carolyn Sopher, Sis. Margie Jewett and Bro. Danny McGhee. Among the many others were Bro. Ben, Bro. Gilstrap and Evangelist Lillie Hardison.

Bishop LeRoy Watson picked people up, met people at certain areas to make it easy on them to be a part and fed them if necessary or if he desired to do so.  We packed lunches, blasted Gospel music all the way, and sang our way up to the doors of the Prison house. He allowed each person to take part in the service sharing a scripture, prayer, testimony, The Word, and even some of the inmates were allowed as well.

During this time, Bishop Watson founded the Trinity Fresh Start program and purchased a house in the Sea/Tac area to provide housing for men when released from prison.

The Third Calling – Prayer Warrior Ministries Without Walls, the Church

Bishop LeRoy Watson was a strategic church leader seeking to do the Perfect Will of God! As Bishop LeRoy Watson transitioned into retiring from Waste Management Services (over 40 years of service), he also retired from prison ministry where he served for 15 years. This transition produced the third and pronounced ministerial call from God, “The Church Ministry.”  This call from the Lord established Prayer Warrior Ministries Without Walls, “The Big Tent” in 2019.  Bishop Watson faithfully served alongside his wife Bishop Kimberly Watson since their marriage in 2010.

Their Marriage, Ministry, and The Race

Bishop LeRoy Watson married Kimberly Watson on April 10, 2010, in Seward Park, Washington in the presence of family and friends.  Together their ministry has bore fruit that has remained one-hundred-fold! They are recognized by The City of Kent as First Responders to the COVID-19 Pandemic by distributing thousand of tons of food to all people, all nations, and all languages.  Bishop LeRoy Watson remained on a mission to save souls both naturally and spiritually until his arrival into the loving arms of a Mighty Father.

Bishop LeRoy Watson was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Watson Sr. and Dorothy Clark Watson Boyd, and siblings Jesse Watson Jr., Rosemary (Lena) Watson, and Willie (Nell) Watson.

He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his homegoing, his loving and devoted wife, Bishop Kimberly Watson, his children Terrell Watson, Roberto Watson, DeWayne Watson, Dennis Watson, Kenneth Harold White Jr. and Emmanuel Hale. His siblings, Yvonne Sampson, and Anglee Watson. A host of beloved grandchildren, nephews, nieces, friends, and The Prayer Warrior Ministries Church Family.

Bishop LeRoy Watson has run the race… he has stood firm until the end….

It is with great sadness that my Uncle has passed. I have been been away far to long and because of it, I have missed valuble time and wisdom. My heart is broken but what I do know is that my love for him is strong and now he is on his other duties that god has mapped out for him. Life is a blessing and Uncle Leroy has lived a long and beautiful life.

Love you! My family and I wish you safe journey! Chucky, Deborah, Bianca and CJ Watson.

A Note to my Uncle,

We miss you and love you. It’s truly hard for us to say goodbye, but we know you’re in that Glorious place that we’re all striving to get to. Uncle after reading your obituary we weren’t aware of ALL your wonderful Godly works you have done here on earth, you were an amazing instrument of God used to reach the masses until your last breath. As you enter the Gates of Heaven, what brings us comfort is that you are in heaven dancing the “Holy Praise Dance” as you hear the Father say, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:21. I thank God that He placed Aunt Kim in your life, a virtuous woman she is, she will continue your God given legacy for generations to come. Well done Uncle go and enjoy Paradise! Kiss and Hug Grandma Dorothy, Papa Jesse (Jesse Sr), Uncle Nell, Aunt Lena, and Daddy (Jesse Jr.) for me. Until we meet again, Love you Uncle LeRoy.

To Aunt Kim, Terrel, Dwayne, and Roberto you are in our hearts and prayers, and know that your family will always be here for you always. We love you all dearly.

Bishop Watson. To me you were always elder Watson. I had no idea you transitioned . You called me young Timothy when I was in Shelton prison in early 2000. I love you and always will. Prayer warriors I’ll cherish forever and the word I’ve learned through you I will use to further the gospel. God bless your wife and family. Elder Watson rest in power.
