Obituary

Bob was born in humble beginnings on a farm in Carson, ND. He was the first born of 4 children and lived there until his family moved to Post Falls, ID later during the Great Depression.

He was drafted to serve in the Korean War as a radio operator. Shortly after he returned from the war, he married, began raising a family and growing a business, and eventually had 2 children. He was active in his community as a volunteer firefighter, and enjoyed square dancing in his spare time. He also liked to fish, camp, and go boating.

He was an entrepreneur throughout his working life, and owned service stations, 7/11 convenience stores, and a tax and accounting business. He was a follower of Christ, and led several bible studies for young men. He was also active in Promise Keepers. He became interested in the Jewish faith, and often would observe traditional Jewish holidays. In his later years, he became very knowledgeable in investing in the stock market.

He leaves his wife, Nancy Backer; sister, Beryl Olson; brother, Donny; daughter, Lauren Munson; grandchildren, Dwayne Lundy, Trevor Munson, and Kristyn VanHoy; and great-grandchildren Felix and Brock VanHoy.

Bob, would always have time to share a cup of coffee with you and talk of spiritual things. His took his coffee black, and in his later years, it was decaf.

He will be dearly missed…
