Byron L. LOVELADY, Jr.
Longtime Seattle resident, Byron L. Lovelady, Jr, age 81., passed on recently from complications of lung cancer in Medford, Oregon. Byron was born in Weatherford, Texas on January 7, 1927, the same year that the first solo non-stop Trans Atlantic flight was made from New York to Paris.
Byron was destined in his association with flying as he enjoyed a 40 year career with United Airlines-Seattle as a Lead Mechanic. Throughout his time with United, Byron developed a thorough knowledge of aircraft and enjoyed many hobbies in collecting and model building of airplanes. In addition to his passion for aviation, Byron also enjoyed traveling, country western music, going to the movies, vintage cars, and spending time with his United buddies and longtime friends. A master tinkerer, he was always involved in one project or another. His wry sense of humor and generous and compassionate nature will be missed.
