Obituary

Calvin Stenson

Eatonville, WA

Calvin Stenson passed away on January 9, 2007. Born September 2, 1925 in Waverly, WA, son of Iral Leroy Stenson and Edna Ruth Carlisle. Proceeded in death by his wife of 50 years Mary and brothers and sister Wayne, Franklin and Louise. Cal is survived by his son, Dean Stenson of Tigard, OR, his sister Elaine Peplinski in Spokane Valley, WA and his brother Ed Stenson of Pocatello, ID. Cal proudly served his country parachuting in WWII for the 101st Airborne Division of the 208th infantry. Cal enjoyed telling stories that Hitler surrendered because he heard that Cal and his friends were on their way. Cal was a truck driver by trade. In retirement, he loved to travel in his motor home and play cards. He cut bait while his wife Mary fished. Cal loved animals. While living in Renton, Cal and Mary adopted a family of squirrels, crows and blue jays, all of which Cal named and fed. He was also happy to care for Mary’s spent Rhododendron blossoms. Cal’s favorite saying was ”Are you going to cut bait or play cards?” Cal was patriotic, loving his country, family and friends. Special thanks to Cal’s stepson, David Gourley and his wife Bobbie for their loving care. Donations in memory of Calvin Stenson may be made to Screaming Eagles Support Fund at 101st Airborne Division Association, 2703 Michigan Ave, POB 929 Fort Campbell, KY 42223.
