Carol Adeline Love

Obituary
Carol Adeline Love, born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on December 22, 1925 to Clarence and Ethel Roedell, passed away in Kirkland, Washington on December 10, 2023, just short of her 98th birthday.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years George H. Love; brother Clarence “June” (Doris) Roedell; sister Marilyn Wright; and her sons Jeff and Ralph Mill.
Carol came to Washington State with her family in a 1921 Essex. The trip took several weeks and was not without breakdowns and some drama – you can imagine how that went with four young children. Carol was the second oldest. The Roedells started in the Nooksack area where the kids attended grade school and junior high, then relocated to the greater Seattle area where Carol graduated from Broadway High School. It was there she met her best and life-long friend, Doris.
Carol and Doris were together through thick and thin, and when Carol’s brother June and Doris fell in love and married, their friendship was sealed. For the early part of their lives, they actually worked the same jobs: Bartells was one, they worked with Mr. Bartells directly, and they also processed film for Technicolor. They always seemed to have fun and have stories to tell. Life was an adventure. They saw each other through childbirth – five for Carol and six for Doris. Carol always said her children were her greatest accomplishments and there was no question she loved them dearly.
Carol lived most of her married life in the Des Moines area and truly loved the view of the mountains and water. Later on when the kids were grown, George and Carol and Doris and June took many road trips together, somehow they seemed to always involve casinos, but they had fun and saw sights.
Carol was an avid collector; well, let’s just say she loved the second-hand stores. Carol worked at Value Village for a period of time and loved being able to sort through those treasures.
A true supporter of Huskies football, Carol was a fan of any University of Washington sport, always knew what games were on when, and made sure her family all had purple and gold to wear.
Carol is survived by her brother Alan (Wendy) Roedell; her three children Rhonda (Larry) Nelsen, Eric (Amanda) Love, and Alyssa (David) Love; and her two grandchildren Lydia and Parker Love. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
It seems unbelievable when you think of the years Carol lived and all the things she saw in her life. Carol was remarkable, amazing, and has left a mark, and a hole, for those of us left behind. A special thanks to Evergreen Hospice who was immensely helpful in this final chapter.
A private service will be held at a later date and any remembrances to honor Carol may be made to the animal shelter or charity of your choice.
Mom….I love you and miss you, don’t worry, we’ll all be rooting for the Husky win💛💜
Auntie Carol , I miss you.
❤️ Thank you for all the songs and the laughs, and the time you spent with family.
Thanks for being a second mom to Lori June. For holding my baby girl 21 years ago. It was great to meet you and hear amazing stories about your love to Lori June your niece.
So hard to come up with something to say about my Mom…She truly was everything a child could ask for at any age. Always knew what her children needed and would do all she could to provide it. She was just as good at being a Grandma to my children as she was a Mother to her children. I will watch the Huskies tonight and think of her on every play.
…and yes Mom, I have my jersey on,
My Auntie My Carol,
I have always felt loved and accepted by you. You opened your heart and your home to Lori and me and for that I will always be grateful. Love you, miss you,
your niecy Wynnie Poo
