Obituary
Carol Rae Suddarth went to be with her Savior, Jesus, on June 26, 2024 at the age of 92.
Carol was born on March 14, 1932 in Port Angeles, Washington to Clyde and Alice Rettig. She
had two brothers: Charles and Vern, and six sisters: Ellen, Lois, Lorraine, Arlene, Joanne and
Jeanne. All her siblings preceded her in death except for Jeanne. Her brother Charles died the
year she was born and her sister Lois died just once month prior to her wedding. She
graduated from high school in Blaine, Washington and moved to Seattle to live with her sister
Lois in Seattle while working in administration with the airlines. She was very involved at
Tabernacle Baptist where she met a lot of her lifelong friends and her future husband James
(Jim) L. Suddarth. Up until their marriage, she actually didn’t know which of the sisters he liked
until he proposed to her and they were married on October 26, 1956.
Jim and Carol had three daughters: Kathy (1959), Judy (1961) and Sharon (1966). She leaves
behind ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Carol was a devoted mother whose life
revolved around her family, friends, church, and faith in the Lord Jesus. She enjoyed sewing,
crafting, gardening, cake decorating, baking and quilting. Her daughter Judy and
granddaughter Kaila moved in with her in November of 2022 to help care for her and allow her
to continue to stay in her home. After being diagnosed with cancer in October of 2023, Carol
passed away in her home as she had desired with all three daughters present.
A memorial service will be held on July 20, 2024 at McMicken Heights Church in Seatac,
Washington at 1:00 pm. A fellowship time will follow the service.
