Obituary

Carole was born in Lewistown, Montana, October 22, 1936. If you are looking at a map of Montana, Lewistown is right in the middle of the state. The ranch she grew up on is nestled in the base of the beautiful Judith Mountains.

Her parents Victor and Ethel Folda farmed the land in Maiden Canyon.  She has one older brother, Warren, and one younger brother, Alan.

When Carole was a youngster, she was given some bum lambs to have as “pets”. She was so fond of her animals.

As it goes in the country, there was a little one-room schoolhouse in Brooks, Montana that she attended through grade school. Her Aunt Grace was a teacher there. Grace was the youngest of 10 children, and Ethel, Carole’s mother was the eldest.

As she grew up, Carole participated in 4-H and also rode horses for fun. During her High School years, she lived in town with her grandparents. Carole graduated from Fergus High School in 1954. Horse riding was a joy for Carole, and in 1957 Carole was crowned Rodeo Queen!

Carole went to Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. She was very involved with her sorority Alpha Gamma Delta. Their house was the first house to have a married couple and all the young women took care of their baby and got hands on experience. There were many dances and lots of dance cards filled out! She was “pinned” by David “Grant” Mosby and they were married in 1958.

From the middle of Montana, they followed Grant’s Air Force career for several years. They lived in Big Spring Texas, Phoenix, Arizona, Osaka, Japan, and Seattle, Washington. Grant later took a job with United Airlines, and travel continued to be one of Carol’s passions. Carole enjoyed traveling with her friends Marilyn and Betty to Europe, and with Anne to Hong Kong.  Family trips were also taken to Hawaii, California, New York, and with Grant to Mexico and more. The road home to Lewistown was always in her heart though and every chance to go was taken!

In the late 1960’s, Carole went to a Jafra party and instantly decided that it would be fun to try the business. From then on, she would tote her Jafra case all over the Puget Sound. Fifty-five plus years later, she was still selling the products to lifelong clients who always became her friends. Afterall, Jafra was all about “Sharing & Caring”. This became the theme through the rest of her years.

Later, in the late 90’s, Carole took a job at Macy’s (Puyallup location).  Sharing and caring were how she became successful with her work there selling women’s clothing and always earning their accolades.

Carole loved her family and friends so much! She was known to spend hours on the phone talking and listening with all of them. She was always supportive as a mother and friend.

Carole is survived by her kids (Greg, Bryan, and Bethlyn), grandkids (Stephen, Janna, Addison, Tanya, and Jacqueline) and great grandchildren (Waylon, Jacob & Donna), also, her brother Alan Folda and many nieces and nephews that she adored.

Carole will be remembered for her wonderful smile, her energy into helping others.

Carole was a wonderful addition to our Sabotka family as my son Chet’s mother-in-law. I remember fondly how Carole and I worked on their wedding favors and Bethlyn’s all looked FANTASTIC and the ones Carole and I did were “acceptable”. It had snowed the few days before March 17th and we all were concerned about if the wedding could take place but Carole “knew” it would be ok.
