Obituary
Catherine Elizabeth McMiller was called home on June 19, 2022, at the age of 85. Catherine was born to Richard and Ida Mae Jones (Johnson) on April 27, 1937 in Biloxi, MS. She relocated to Ocean Springs, MS where she met her husband Arbert McMiller Sr. While in Ocean Springs, MS, they had two children Anthony McMiller and Dale McMiller. They married and relocated to Houston, TX, where they had three more children Arbert McMiller Jr, Patricia McMiller (Young) and Audrey McMiller (Mathews). In November of 1972, Catherine relocated to Seattle, WA with her five children to be closer to her extended family.
Catherine began her housekeeping career at the beautiful Gulf Hills Hotel and Resort in Ocean Springs, MS. She continued her housekeeping career in Houston, TX and later in Seattle, WA at Park Shore. After many years of doing Private Home work, she finally retired in 2001. The families she serviced always gave her praise for how well she raised her children. The children of the families adored her and hated to see her go.
Catherine was a matriarch of the family. She always opened her home to help many family members in need. She’s a strong woman with a big, kind heart. She was known for her straightforward approach. She would always say “Don’t Take No Wooden Nickels”. One thing people loved about her was how Real she was. She would always throw the coolest parties and get togethers. When you visited her home, you were sure to hear her favorite singer Anita Baker playing. She was also a fan of Tupac believe it or not. She was also known for her good cooking. (That Dressing) mmmmm! Several family members always called for recipes, and she was happy to share. For years in her spare time, she enjoyed going to bingo and making crochet blankets for family and friends.
We know that we can’t have you, but we’re happy knowing that the angels have finally got you back. Goodbye to a wonderful, courageous woman and beautiful mother.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Arbert McMiller, Sr and sons Dale McMiller and Arbert McMiller, Jr. Catherine is survived by her son Anthony McMiller; daughter Patricia Young (Yudorian Young); daughter Audrey Mathews (Roger Mathews, Jr); sister Ida Mae Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
