Obituary

Cecilia Louise ”Cec” Coy

”Cec” was the ”heart” of Seahurst and her neighbors already miss her in so many ways. After a brave, three-year fight with breast cancer, she passed away peacefully in Highline Hospital at 11:50 a.m., September, 22, surrounded by people who loved her. Born on March 1, 1946 in San Mateo, California, to the late Betty Ann Bellefeuille Best and Wesley Best, Cec moved with her mother to the Seattle area when she was a child. She attended Seattle University for 3-1/2 years. She moved to the Seahurst community in 1975.

She was a flight attendant for Western/Delta Airlines for 34 years. A very intelligent and multi-talented woman, Cec was so modest about her accomplishments that few of her friends knew about all of them. She loved to play the piano and violin, ice skate, garden and paint. At the age of 60, she took up rollerblading! She was fluent in French and pretty good in many other languages. Cec was true to her heritage and added French touches to the little house she cherished, filling her yard with flowers, and adding perfect touches in every room.

Most of all Cec was kindness personified, always a friend you could count on. She was a ”giver,” who planted and cared for numerous flower containers in Burien every summer. She checked on ill and elderly neighbors, and she quietly comforted those who were sad or confused. She loved all animals, and fed not only her own cats, but gladly watched over neighbors’ pets while they were on vacation. She even fed the raccoons who happened by. For many years, she volunteered to teach basic English to inmates at the Women’s Prison at Purdy, and to Cambodians, Laotians, Vietnamese, Russians and Hispanics, even while she worked full-time.

If ever a city had a one-woman booster, it was Cec and her devotion to Burien. She gave enthusiastic ”tours” to newcomers that included every new restaurant or business. Cec found 152nd Street as just as interesting as Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It was always a treat to go with her to investigate special places in Burien, and she was a great pal to take along to Valu-Village! Quite simply, Cec was a lot of fun to be with!

Cec leaves behind her aunts: Doris M. Barry and Margaret Ryan, cousins: Diane E. Barry, Jonathan Beachner, Julie Ryan, former husband and good friend Gary G.. Coy, and far too many friends to list.

Her memorial service will be held at Bonney-Watson Funeral Home in Burien, 900 S.W. 146th St. 206244-2310 on Thursday, October 5th, 11:00 a.m. Remembrances to Another Chance Pet Adoption, 21915 Marine View S, Des Moines 206-878-1292 or the Salvation Army.

Godspeed, Cec.
