How blessed we were when our paths crossed with Chuck and Vicky on our trips to Europe. We treasured our friendship and so enjoyed knowing Chuck. He was such a kind and thoughtful person and so much fun to be with.

We will never forget having our own special accountant trying to come up with the amount each of about five couples owed at dinner one night. Everything was on one bill, the menue and bill were in a foreign language, and we had all ordered different things. I don’t remember how Chuck resolved the mess, but for awhile we thought we might be spending the night at the restaurant.

The devotion of Chuck for Vicky was an inspiration to us. We were so glad they had found each other. The times we shared on our trips together were very special. Chuck was a very special man.

Love, Jack and Kathie

We knew Chuck and Vickie from traveling with them in Turkey and eastern Europe. Their good humor and their obvious affection for each other were a joy to experience and they made the trips more enjoyable for both of us. We will miss Chuck’s humorous e-mails.

We met Chuck and Vicky on our first Rick Steves tour of Europe which was a smashing success. We later went on a tour of Turkey with them and, at the end of the tour, six of us backpacked through the Greek Islands for two weeks. We rented cars and explored Samos and Crete, and Athens.

Chuck loved his Vicky and would tell the story of how they met and the instant attraction they felt for each other. They had an inspiring marriage and friendship.

We enjoyed going out for dinner often with Chuck and Vicky, and getting together with our mutual friends from the Rick Steves tours. One thing we loved about Chuck was how he enjoyed jokes and a good laugh. Consequently, we called him “Chuckles” very fondly. Most of all, he let us know how much he loved all his friends and treasured their friendships.

Victoria: Thank you for calling us. We appreciate your kindness in thinking of us. Dick and Chuck have been associated for many years and I more recently through my partnership with Dick. Chuck was our trusted accountant and he was very patient with my recordkeeping as it related to our tax needs. He gave us good advice over the years and was very thorough as he handled our personal and business taxes. Dick fortunately, got to know him on a more personal level. We are saddened by your loss Victoria, but we will celebrate his life with you.

Our sincere sympathies to the family of Chuck Steele. He was instrumental in helping to set up our company/corporation in Sitka,Alaska for many years. He made quick note of my first office chair which was an empty beer keg with a pillow for a seat cushion. We had great times fishing on our boat here in Sitka and a wonderful tour of Kona with him and his wife, Vickie. Chuck will always remain dear to us. He was a most kind, patient and generous person. He will be missed by the many lives he touched.

I knew Chuck for several years. He was my patient, my accountant, and most importantly my friend. He helped me to build my business and I consider myself lucky to have known him. My fondest memories of Chuck will be seeing him shooting baskets at the gym just like a little kid, and talking to him at length about college football.

Chuck will be truly missed. We will always remember the good time we had at our family gathering in Fresno for the memorial week ends. Chuck had some good jokes and stories he told. I will remember when he took a group of us to the Indian gambling casino at Table Mountain, that was a good time, didn’t win and thing, but we a good fun. We will always remember and love you Chuck. You are in our prayers.

Dear Aunt Vicky,

Tracy and I are saddened at the passing of Chuck. I will remember him at Michael’s wedding this past September. We had a lovely talk by the Cappuccino machine! We talked about his illness and how he wanted to be as active as humanly possible up to the very end. That was important to him. We had wonderful times at the family parties and life seemed happy for the two of you. We send our deepest condolences to you and your families at this time.
