Obituary
Charles ”Chuck” Potter
Age 52, passed away unexpectedly on January 11th, 2007. He was born March 25th, 1954 in Seattle and was the loving son of Audrey and the late Earl Potter. Chuck is survived by Audrey Potter mother, Claudia Potter sister and Jody Peetz fiancée along with many relatives and friends.
Chuck attended Highline High School and the University of Washington. He enjoyed his job as Director of Simulcasts at Emerald Downs and was previously at US West.
Chuck loved spending time with family, Jody and her dogs, golf, horses, Husky sports and all Seattle teams. Chuck was a well respected member of the Horse Racing Community and will be missed by many.
A memorial for Chuck will be planned at Emerald Downs when the racing season begins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association. Please visit Chuck’s online memorial at www.bonneywatson.com
We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Chuck’s family at this very trying time. Chuck was admired and respected by all that worked with him and we feel priviledged to have worked with Chuck while we were at Emerald Downs.
Our prayers are with the family and all those that feel the profoundness of losing such a great person.
Much love,
The Mangalee’s
Just wanted to send along my deepest sympathies to Chuck’s family and many friends. He was always very kind to me and a true gentleman.
Condolences,

We wish to send our sympathies to Chuck’s family and Jody. Chuck and Vicki would often kid each other about being related–both Potter’s! We liked and respected him a great deal and will miss him.
We are deeply sorry for the loss of your son, brother, fiance’. We were very shocked to have read this news in racing form and deeply saddened that Chuck is gone. I wish I had the perfect words to express at this time..I will always remember Chuck as a very kind man, soft spoken, with a very pleasant genuine smile. I met Chuck thru my husband David del Fierro. David first met Chuck in grade school in Seattle. My husband would like to extend his own personal feelings to family members-in person, but both of us do extend our deepest sympathies to all of you and if there is anything we can do please don’t hesitate to let us know.
We will miss a very special person in our lives. I believe that his mother was so blessed to have raised this really special son and Jody was so blessed to become a part of his life. I will miss walking by his room and seeing his smile and working with him. What a loss we all feel. There are so few people in this world that are so fortunate to meet someone like Chuck, I feel very fortunate to be one that did.
I wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss of Chuck. I’ve known Chuck for many years, and he was a wonderful guy. I’ll miss seeing him at his desk when I walk into the Mutuel office, it won’t be the same.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I have never met Chuck in person but when I spoke to him on the phone asking about a particular horse, he was more than kind by letting me know what happened to them and where they were. He was truly a very kind man and I am proud to have spoken to him and the racing community lost a really great guy. He would make anyone feel at home even tho they are just a casual racing fan. My sympathies go out to you all. I am very sorry for your loss.
I was very sorry to hear of Chuck’s passing and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones. I have not seen Chuck for many years, but he was a very good person and I know he will be greatly missed. My condolences to you all.
My heart goes out to Jody and Chuck’s family. Growing up at the track, Chuck was one of the few people that my parents were happy to see me hanging out with! He was a true gentleman and had an amazing passion for the game. From the Mariner games to speaking on the rail at the paddock,it was always a pleasure to be in Chuck’s company. We’ll miss you my friend.
I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT CHUCK. I JUST HAPPENED TO BE LOOKING ON LOVEDAGOAT.COM AND READ ABOUT HIM. I WORKED AT EMERALD DOWNS FOR 11 YEARS AND CHUCK ALWAYS SMILED AND SAID HI TO ME. WHAT A NICE GUY. HE WILL BE MISSED!!! MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY.
As a friend, golfing partner and working with Chuck, his passing really was a surprise and loss to us. One of the things I remember about Chuck, is hs love and protection of his Mom and Sister, and his special love for Jody. We could joke and tease about Chuck, but never his family!!!
I can only imagine the loss and pain his family is feeling. Our thoughts are with them. Ken and Yvonne
Our warmest thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to all of Chuck’s loved ones. I can’t believe we will be starting a racing season without him. He will be truly missed.

Chuck was a dear friend for 30 years. I would mirror what Ben Root said about Chuck at the races; He added a ton of integrity to our sport. He was someone you could trust in any circumstance.
He only lived 52 years but indeed he “lived” every minute of every day, helped others whenever he could and will be missed terribly.
What a loss.

I have known Chuck almost all of my life. We shared good times bowling and at the race track. He is a wonderful person and I will miss him very much. My heart goes out to his sister and his mother, both of which I also know.
I met “Chuck” at Portland Meadows in 1993, He was my agent then and I have to say I was impressed with his soft spoken style, well mannered, so we became good friends, we used to have breakfast together, go out for dinner, go to the movies, etc. Until he moved back to Seattle, and I went back to Vancouver. You don’t have the chance to meet people like him often, I will always miss him.
I knew Chuck through the horseracing industry. He was a great guy, one of the best in the business. I was shocked to hear of his passing.
I have known chuck a long time as I was growing up he was my dads agent. He was always there for are family and was a great guy he will be truly missed.
