Charlotte Robinson was born in Indiana, PA, June 11, 1912. She taught high school for 10 years after receiving her BS degree from Indiana Univ of PA, and MA degrees from Penn. State and Columbia Universities. She was a life member and past Matron of Eastern Star in Indiana, PA. She was in the 2nd class of WAVE Officers to be commissioned and served in WWII, specializing in Navy Intelligence for the 7th Naval District in Miami, FL.
Charlotte moved to Vancouver, WA in 1947 and was active in community activities. She was a life member of AAUW, serving as a Past President of the Vancouver branch and 1st VP of the state division. She served as President of the Clark County American Cancer Society and President of the Vancouver Community Forum. Having worked in the Portland library, she was asked to lend her expertise to the opening of the Vancouver Library in 1962. She was active in the Portland Yacht Club and the years from 1963 – 1977 were spent in widespread sailing with her husband throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. She volunteered 20+ years for the SW WA Medical Auxiliary, working in the Surgical Waiting room and on the Scholarship Committee, was a member of PEO and Columbia Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Walter H. Robinson, died in 1983.
She is survived by sons, Alan, Myles and Jared; daughter, Caroline Sanders; as well as six grand-children and four great-grandchildren.
She was 3 weeks shy of 100 years old and frequently told people that she had enjoyed “a wonderful life”.
She was a vibrant, caring, and friendly woman
who was always interested in the people
and world about her. She will be greatly missed.
Private services will be held in Seattle, where she had recently resided. Burial will be in Tunkhannock, PA.
