Obituary

Clarice Jeanette Titterud

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clarice Jeanette Titterud on April 22, 2016.  She lived a long and full life surrounded by the love of her family and friends and filled the lives of those around her with her kindness, generosity, quiet faith and constant love.

She was born to Oscar and Cecelia Swenson on July 3, 1918 and grew up on their farm in McGregor, ND.  After graduating from McGregor High School, she obtained her teaching degree at the State Teachers College in Minot, ND, after which she ventured west to teach in Federal Way, WA.

After working at Boeing during the war, she returned to North Dakota and began teaching again.  She married Marvin Titterud and had two daughters, Janet and Vicki.  After buying a Midas franchise, they moved back to Washington and settled in Burien.

Clarice was strong in her faith, was an active member of Glendale Lutheran Church and an incredible role model as a Christian and a beloved elder in our family.  She loved to travel and collected memories from adventures in many countries including China, Australia, the Holy Land, Europe, Scandinavia as well as many places across North America.  She loved to visit family often in Montana and North Dakota, and still thought of North Dakota as her home – she even drove there by herself when she was in her 80’s!

Clarice is preceded in death by her daughter Janet Graham and husband Michael Graham, her brother Frank Swenson, and sister Irene Johnson.  She is survived and fondly remembered by her brother Earl and his wife Alice of Tioga, ND, her daughter Vicki and son-in-law Tim of North Bend, WA, and four granddaughters: Jessica Johnston of Sedona, AZ, Angela Vineyard Giarratano and her husband Brett Giarratano of Fountain Hills, AZ, Michelle Graham of Covington, WA and Amelia Moore and her husband Miguel Mejia of North Bend, WA.  She also leaves in her loving legacy two great-grandchildren, Yasemin Moore of North Bend, WA and Jace Giarratano of Fountain Hills, AZ.

A Memorial Service for Clarice will be held Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 11:00AM at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial Chapel

Clarice was such an inspiration to me in my ministry. She was so loving and supportive of her granddaughter Michelle who I was privileged to meet. I loved Clarice’s sweet and quiet demeanor and the love she exhibited so warmly for her family.
