Claudette Elaine Diuguid

November 28, 1946 - November 12, 2008

Obituary

Claudette Diuguid was born to Jeanette and Bernard Martin on November 28, 1946 in Palatka, Florida. Claudette married Michael Diuguid in 1983 and they were privileged to celebrate their 25th anniversary this year. Claudette and Michael’s marriage and friendship were an inspiration to all of those around them especially Michael & Claudette’s children.

Claudette and Michael raised three wonderful children – Stacy James, Shannon Myers, and Paul Cypher. Their family was extended by the wonderful addition of two sons-in-law, Mark James and Ric Myers, as well as a beautiful daughter-in-law Audrey Cypher. More importantly, Claudette’s anxiously awaited granddaughter, Lily Sophia, arrived in June of 2007 and was one of the greatest joys in her life. For the last seventeen months Claudette was giddy in her role as the doting grandmother ‘Momo’ to Lily. She spent every available minute loving and holding her precious Lily.

Ever devoted to her family and friends, Claudette was always there for whomever needed her. She was loved and admired by all who knew her. Claudette always lit up a room with her radiant positive energy, warming everyone she touched.

Claudette loved to travel and was an enthusiastic scuba diver and photographer. We all anxiously awaited her next e-mail or CD, so we could live her most recent adventure vicariously through her fascinating stories and pictures….and we were never disappointed. She lived life to the fullest… Claudette will continue to encourage us in life’s adventures, standing behind us and egging us on to live life as vivaciously as she did.

Claudette, however, was not all play and no work. She was an accomplished Certified Medical Assistant who worked at Fred Hutchinson in the Cancer Research Center. She told us how privileged she felt to be a part of such a wonderful team as well as the great friendships she developed. She was devoted to her job and her patients, as Claudette always gave 150% of herself to anyone who was in need.

Each and everyone of us will all greatly miss Claudette, but we all are comforted knowing that she is now a guardian angel watching over us forever. Please join us in her life celebration Monday, November 17, 2008 at 1:00 pm for a casual luau potluck in her honor. As Claudette led such a vibrant life, we know she would prefer us to celebrate comfortably. The family will be in Hawaiian attire and we hope that all will join as we rejoice in remembering our beloved Claudette.

Maddie and I will miss Claudette tremendously. She and Michael always made us feel especially loved and she was not only one of my best friend’s mother’s but a true friend to me as well. She will be greatly missed and as I raise my daughter I will strive to instill in her some of the wonderful love and adventure that Claudette has instilled in me. Love, Jennifer and Maddie

Claudette. Such a beautiful name for such a beautiful woman. I think if I would have had the opportunity to name her myself, though, I would have named her Sunshine. She was such a warm bundle of energy that brought rays of light and warmth wherever she went. Her laughter filled rooms and hearts and she had one of the largest hearts of anyone I know. She will be forever missed, loved and remembered by her family and all those who she touched with her vibrancy.

We were so delighted to meet “Lily’s Grandma” at the big birthday bash this summer. She was warm and friendly. We remember her fondly and pray for peace and rest for your family as you deal with this tragedy. May God be close to each of you and give you that which you need each day to face this.

I met claudette when I was 9 years old. I remember her excitement when she was learning to play the piano. She was a wonderful friend to grow up with. I wish we hadn’t lost touch with each other. My condolences to her family.
