Obituary
Commander Fred H. Gage Jr. born in Pensacola, Florida and most recently from Clinton, WA, loving husband and Father, died queitly Thursday morning 16 may 2002 with his family at his side at Harborview Medical Cemter in Seattle.
Cdr. Gage was a Navy Pilot for 20 years with a distinguished career, retiring as a Commander in Naples, Italy, in 1960. He was a member of a Black Cat Squadron during the Pacific Conflict in World War II. Cdr. Gage was awarded the many medals for his valor, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Air Medals, National Service Medal and the China Service Medal. However, the love and respect of his comrades were his greatest reward.
After retirement from the navy, he began a careerr as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch, living and working in Frankfurt, Germany, until 1974 when he and his wife Dorothy Jeanne Gage moved to Portland, OR, before settling in the Seattle area in 1980. Once again in his second career, Fred created strong relationships with colleagues and clients and was highly respected for his integrity and commitment.
Cdr. and Mrs. Gage attracted many dear friends through their lives together and kept in contact with them through theie travels and by welcoming many of them into their homes.
Cdr. Gage is remembered for his love of family and his deep interest in history. He was always willing to engage in an active discussion on any of the many topics on which he kept current.
Cdr. Gage is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Jeanne Gage, his daughter Suzanne Gage Brainard, his Daughter Kathleen Gage Damm, her husband Larry and sons Jesse and Seth, and by his son Fred H. Gage III., his wife Mary Lynn and their daughters Francesca and Alexandra.
Cdr. Fred Gage will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia on June 27, 2002.

As we said over the phone we will be honored to be at Fred’s interrment. All the Gages including the ones up in Northern NH send their love and best wishes. I am sending Ronald Thomas Gage, Lonie’s son the obituary and all my children will have it.
Bud and I certainly are thrilled we made the trip to Clinton to see you and cherish the time. Also, I know that Bud loved talking with Fred for the last few months.
