Obituary

Cora M. Lee was born in Walhalla, ND. She was the eldest daughter in a family of eight. Preceding her in death were her husband, Anson Lee, a sister, Ruth Grau, and brothers, Julian, Eddie, Alvin, Morris, John and Elmer. Her daughter, Donna Lee Pincombe of Renton, WA, survives her and three grandchildren, John Pincombe, of Warrenton, OR, Jean Connot of Kent, WA and Susan DeVore of Tacoma, WA. Her three great grandchildren are Matthew Connot, Amber DeVore, and Alexander DeVore.

In 1942, Cora and Anson moved to Seattle from Grand Forks, ND. While Anson worked in the shipyards, Cora managed the Star Motel. She later managed the elementary school lunchrooms at Georgetown, Bailey, Gatzert and Van Asselt in Seattle. Cora retired at 65 after twenty-five years of service to the schools.

Cora delighted in her grandchildren and took them for outings in her red ’57 Chevy. As many Midwestern women, she knew her way through the kitchen and to our hearts. Her personal stories of farm life were as good as any children’s books of the period and much preferred by the grandkids. Her laugh was hearty and infectious, and her wit sharp. Known always as a gracious host, our cookie queen, ‘the’ lefse lady, and an avid student of the Bible and dictionary. Heaven is the richer for her presence. Way to go Cora! We will see you soon. Watch for us!
A memorial service will be held 2PM, Saturday, May 23 at Newport Covenant Church, 12800 SE Coal Creek Parkway, Bellevue, WA 98006.
