Corinne Rose Cato

Obituary

Corinne Rose (Miller) Cato was born in Spokane, Washington April 9, 1927.  Her family moved to Seattle, and she attended Franklin High School, graduating in 1944.

She met the love of her life, Henry Cato at Southgate Roller Rink in White Center.  They spent 67 years together until his passing.  During their years together they built their house on Occidental Street and raised their three children June, Lewis, and Paul in it along with an extensive garden and Corinne’s impeccable flower beds, including her beloved roses.

Corinne and Henry loved to travel, with a particular love for Hawaii and National Parks.  Much of their travel was the result of their shared love of square dancing, especially as a member of the Hoot ‘n Hollers.  They danced for over 40 years and danced in all fifty states.

Corinne chronicled her family’s life both through pictures and genealogy.  She amassed more than a dozen photo albums filled with their adventures and family goings-on. Stowed away in a cupboard, the history of her photography remains in all of her cameras neatly packed away in their original boxes with their instructions still intact.

Corinne loved time with family, frequently hosting holidays and barbecues for all of the extended family.  Most of the children and grandchildren can tell stories of swimming in the orange boat, or Grandma’s gift of Chex Mix.

She worked for more than two decades at Sears Roebuck and Company as a medical claims representative.

Corinne passed away June 5, 2023 at 97 years of age.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Corinne is survived by her brother Earl, sons Lewis and Paul, grandchildren William, Richard, Veronica, Kathy, Beth, Sandy, Jessica and Tracy, and many great-grandchildren and great-great children.
