Obituary
Daniel D. McMonagle III
Dan loved to fly kites, explore rivers in a canoe, and discover treasures along the shores in a sea kayak. He was born on September 4, 1951 and passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends on April 16, 2005. He was a kind and gentle spirit who was forever young at heart, and will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
No memorial services, a private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Franciscan Hospice, 1717 South J Street, Tacoma, WA 98405 or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 530 Dexter Ave. North, Seattle, WA, 98109.
My thoughts and prayers are
with your family.
Dan was a kind and gentle man who was a good neighbor. We wish the family peace and send our best wishes.
Dan golfed with my Husband and myself on occasion and sometimes after a bad shot he would just look at the ground and say quietly, oh no. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Dan will live in the hearts of the people who loved him. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.
Cathy and Family
Out thoughts and prayers are with you.
We will miss Dan very much.
Cathy & family,
We just read with great sorrow the loss of Dan. We remember our whitewater canoe class together and the fun trips on the Winchester Wasteway.
It is sad how time passes by and promises to get together slip away. Dan, we love you and sorry we did not get the chance to laugh together again. Cathy, our love and sympathy to you and Jenny.

We will miss Dan terribly. Our paths have diverged over the last few years, but I think of Dan often. His presence in my early sobriety was a great influence. As I got to know him better, I became more fond of him. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. I’ll bet Dan and John are flying some big kites right about now.
Our deepest sympathy to Cathy and Jenny and the rest of Dan’s family on their loss. Tho’ it’s been a long while since we boated together, we can still see that glint in his eye when he executed a screamin’ eddy turn or managed to get a ride on a stubborn wave. Surf on, Dan!
Although we didn’t have the opportunity to meet Dan, we understand that he was a soft spoken guy who made it a point to listen and try to understand the other person’s view. We are sorry for his passing but believe he is at peace and in a better place.
for nearly 20 years Dan has been a key person in the Alumni group. In the last 5 years we have had the priveledge of his special company on our Seaside trips every April. His courage in facing cancer was admirable. and in his illness, he talked more often of the meaning of life and what helped him cope. we grew closer because of his disease and I will evermore cherish his friendship.

Dan was a beautiful human being and a great friend. He carried a message of experience, strength and hope to those in need, without hesitation. He loved being outdoors and living life to the fullest with his family and friends. You will always be in our hearts Dan. May you be at Peace my Friend.
Love, John & Ginger
Now Dan can fly up there with the kites, he has his wings.
He will be missed.
We will always remember Dan for his big smile, the way he approached each day with great joy, and his playful personality on the water and around camp. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
