Obituary

Daniel John OLWELL 51, died on May 6, 2012 at Northwest Hospital.  Dan, who suffered from chronic severe asthma all his adult life, had an acute attack that led to cardiac arrest.  Dan’s wishes for organ transplant were realized and the family is comforted knowing that others will live on as a result.  Dan overcame many obstacles, including physical disabilities that challenged his everyday life.  He loved playing CYO sports at St. Joe’s grade school until his leg atrophy sidelined him to being an avid sports fan. Dan was a steady, productive worker during his 25 years at Firland Workshop, Seattle.  He was a loving son, brother, uncle and compassionate friend. Dan is survived by his mother, Barbara Allen of Tri-Cities, his brothers Murray (Janet) of Chelan and Bill (Joan) of Seattle, and his sisters Ann Chitty (Brad) and Maribeth Smith (Dave) of Tri-Cities and Eileen Murphy (Barry) of Bellevue, and nieces and nephews Maggie and Ben Olwell, Connor, Kelly and Ryan Smith, and Emma Murphy.  Dan was preceded in death by his father, Mike, and his brothers Brian and Jimmy.  A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 732 18th Ave. E., Seattle. In lieu of flowers, consider a contribution to the Salvation Army or help a friend in need as Dan would often do.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one. Death is one of the most difficult things we face in life but may it comfort you to know that others care. I have found great encouragement when reading the beautiful words penned in the Bible at Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces.” May this promise bring your family comfort in this difficult time.
