Obituary
On September 25, 2017 David W. Shea passed away at the age of 93. Born in Tacoma WA, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. His lifetime career was with the Railroad – the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad which later became the Burlington Northern Railroad. Dave is preceded in death by his two beloved wives – Nadine M. Shea and Barbara Cough Shea.
He asked us to pass along his final thoughts.
“I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith, and
As long as hearts remember
and hearts still care,
I do not part from those I love,
I am with them everywhere”

Dear Denny, Jim and Colleen,
I always enjoyed the times we saw your dad. Your mom and dad were always so welcoming and kind. Dan spoke so highly of both of them.
We pray for peace during this time, knowing that love never dies. I’m sad we’ll be in New York at the time of the funeral. Sending love and prayers,

I’m going to miss my “grumpy teddybear” walking down the street every morning. The guys are going to miss golfing with him and the teaching he does. Without Dave’s help, Larry probably won’t be able to get the crossword puzzles done while working in the Tool Shed We’ll miss getting a chance to see Denny when he drives his Dad to VDO. In other words, Dave will be greatly missed by all of us.
We are glad he is finally “home” and at peace. Death is always toughest for those left behind. Our prayers go out for all of you.

We have so many memories,going back to our days in Spokane in the 1950’s with your mom and dad. And then with Dave and Barbara in Arizona. Your dad and I shared books and Barbara and I shared Coldwater Creek! Dave and a Will shared old railroad stories. I can’t begin to express what his friendship meant to both of us. Bless his heart. To Denny, Jim & Colleen,
So sorry to hear of your father/ Dave’s passing, and remembering all the fond memories of us all growing up together, and Nadine and especially Jim, as you took me in during my younger years, and helping me grow up, as a college student, and for my short career, worth at the 76 gas station and your parents also in many ways during that stage of my life. And to you Jim, we haven’t been in touch since then, but a few times, but even so, I’m eternally grateful. Hope you still have your Nova, what an awesome car. With Denny & Colleen, those growing up years, I was always so happy to see you both, along with your families… God’s blessing on you Cousins.. pat shea

It is sad that Dave has passed, but the memories of our times together playing golf will always bring a smile.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Dave but I know a lot about him from his daughter, Colleen. I know how much she respected and loved him. Condolences to Colleen, her brothers and the rest of his family.
