Obituary
Dennis Reginald Lord, Sr, age 79, went home to his Lord and Savior the morning of December 24, 2014. He was born in Bellingham, WA to Reginald Lewis and Florence Lord on May 21, 1935 and graduated from Meridian High School in 1953. Dennis attended MultnomahBibleCollege in Portland, OR where he met his future wife. Dennis married Betty L. Fischer on December 18, 1954. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Betty and their three children: Dennis R. Lord, Jr and Sherrie Fife of Seattle, WA and Debbie Walker (Dave) of Sumner, WA. Dennis is also survived by three grand children: Andrea Baker (Dustin); Reginald L. Lord (Marlo); and Melissa Pendleton (Jared) and five + great-grand children: Tristan; William; Charlotte; Amelia; Dylan; and one on the way.
Dennis enjoyed watching sports and attending Seahawk games in the Kingdome as a season ticket holder. He enjoyed traveling with friends and family with his favorite destination spot being Hawaii. Dennis was a big part of his grand children’s lives by attending many school related functions and hosting Sunday family dinners after church.
Dennis attended GraceBaptistChurch in South Seattle, spending time as a deacon, treasurer and choir member. Through church Dennis & Betty developed many life long friendships.
Dennis and Betty moved to Boulevard Park Place active senior community in 1999.
Dennis was Activity Coordinator and bus driver and involved in leading Bible studies and the weekly onsite church services and many other activities.
Dennis spent his last few years at Stafford HealthCare in Des Moines, WA. We would like to thank the staff and residents of Stafford for being a part of Dennis’ life.
Services will be held at Bonney Watson Washington Memorial in SeaTac, WA on January 9, 2015 at 1:00; followed by a reception. Since this service falls on Blue Friday, please wear your Seahawks gear to celebrate Dennis and root for the Seahawks in the playoffs on behalf of their #1 fan.
Donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Condolences to the Lord family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Psalms 147:3 says Jehovah God, “heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds.” May God bring you comfort and Peace.
Dennis was a good man, loved and respected by all that knew him. May he rest in peace.
I still can’t believe he’s gone. I love you Grandpa and will forever remember you and the impact you had on my life.
Miss you dad. Can’t believe I can’t call you and just shoot the breeze about me and my family and see how you are doing. I love you and should have said it more often. You were the greatest dad. Thanks for taking care of me and Andrea when we needed you most. And thank you for being the greatest grandpa too. Andrea and I love you so much
